Sexy Cowboy

Ministry Update September 10, 2017

Friday night I was handing out Gospel tracts on a street corner in downtown Springfield, MO when a carload of girls drove by. One of the passengers stuck her head out the window and yelled, “Hey sexy cowboy.” Yes, she yelled this at me. No, I’m not sexy. No, I’m not a cowboy. But I am a follower of Jesus Christ who believes we are to go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature. We are supposed to deny ourselves, pick up our cross and follow Jesus. When Christians venture outside of their homes and their churches, they will hear strange comments. But we really shouldn’t be surprised when lost people act lost.  [Read more…]

The sign here says Kneel To Jesus. I borrowed my friends sign because one day we will all kneel to Jesus, whether today you believe this or not. Every knee will bow, every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. Today, you may be a God mocker or a God scoffer, but one day you will bow your knee, you will confess that Jesus is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. That He is right. That He is just. Is That The Weed Card Or The God Card?

Ministry Update September 3, 2017

On Monday August 28, 2017, I witnessed at the University of Missouri with Jeremy, his brother Joshua and his son Joseph. We handed out tracts and the three of us guys brought open-air messages. While I was handing out tracts, one student walked up to me and looked at the Gospel tract in my hand and asked “Is that the weed card or the God card?” I replied, “the God card” to which he said naw, he wasn’t interested. He walked over to the guy gathering marijuana signatures for a petition to get marijuana on the ballot in November. So, I yelled after the student that weed can’t save you. Ministry Update August 27, 2017

On Wednesday August 23, 2017 I witnessed at MSU during the lunch hour. It was the students first week of school for the fall semester. It was a pleasure to say “welcome students” to those new to Missouri State University and to welcome back the returning students. I tied the message to the parable Jesus told about the king inviting people to the wedding in Matthew 22:1-14 and how many rejected the invitation. My plea was that they wouldn’t reject the invitation to repent and surrender their lives to Jesus Christ the Lord.

Repent And Be Converted

If you have ever heard me sharing the Gospel before then you most likely have heard me say the word repent. A lot of times I say repent and surrender your life to Jesus or repent and believe the Gospel. Or maybe you’ve heard me say repent and trust Jesus or repent and put your faith in Jesus. I say these words because I truly want you to repent and be converted. My desire is to see you saved. I hope to see you one day in Heaven and you can’t make it there without Jesus Christ. Ministry Update 8/20/17

Friday night it was a real blessing to have Kelly and his son Steven join me downtown. We started off at the corner of St. Louis and Jefferson. There’s a nice little park like area there that my wife Polly calls the park, so I may refer to this new spot as the park in the future. We started off here and then later moved to South and Walnut. That’s why I’m calling this update double header. Just like when we used to play back to back softball games (called a double header) when I was younger, we had two different preaching spots Friday night. Sudden Death

I used to be a real sports fanatic. Yes, I’m embarrassed to say that 20 to 25 years ago, I’d be the guy chewing out the referee at a basketball game. Red faced, veins popping out in my neck. Even though I’m nothing like I used to be, I do still like sports. Some sports have what is called sudden death, as in sudden death playoffs. In golf for example, if two or more golfers are tied at the end of a tournament, those players start playing again and the first person to score the lowest on a hole first, wins the tournament.  [Read more…]

I witnessed at Planned Parenthood on Friday during my lunch hour. There was only one van there when I got there and the two women inside were the only customers I saw that day. Just The Facts

The start of the message is going to show my age because I’m going to reference the old TV show Dragnet. I remember watching reruns of the show as a kid in the late 1960’s and Joe Friday saying, “Just the facts ma’am.” My wife remembers this saying too. Even though I did a little research and found out that these words just the facts were never spoken on the show. Evidently the character said a time or two “Give us the facts ma’am”, but never “just the facts.”  [Read more…]
