Do you have kids or grandkids? Do they ever complain or whine? Do they ever say things like “that’s not fair” or “that’s mine” or “Bobby won’t leave me alone?” If you have kids, it’s easy to see that sometimes they whine and complain. [Read more…]
Have you ever had a friend that invaded your personal space? You know, someone who stands too close to you when they talk to you? Or have you ever had an acquaintance that kept coming around bothering you and annoying you when all you wanted was to be left alone? [Read more…]
Did you know that the earth spins at around 1,000 mph? Have you ever thought about what would happen to us if the earth spun at say 2,000 mph or what if it didn’t spin at all? [Read more…]
I was watching a guy on youtube the other day and he said that he was going to follow Socrates. What in the world was he talking about?
He went on to say that he didn’t believe in God or Jesus, so he was going to believe in Socrates. Socrates was a wise person and he was going to follow him. He said that Socrates never said that you had to believe everything he said or you would end up in Hell. That is true. Socrates never said that. But Socrates wasn’t the Son of God. Socrates was a mere mortal like you and me. Socrates didn’t always speak the truth and only the truth. Socrates sometimes gave us his opinion. [Read more…]
Was Jesus politically correct? Do you think Jesus took any sensitivity training classes? Did He need to? Is Jesus politically correct today?
To answer these questions, let’s take a look at some of the actions Jesus took as well as some of the things Jesus said to the religious leaders more than 2,000 years ago. Jesus drove out the buyers and sellers at the temple and He overturned the money changer’s tables at the temple (Matt. 21:12). Jesus also called the religious leaders of His day hypocrites and blind guides! (Matt. 23:13-16). Jesus hung out with prostitutes, tax collectors and sinners (Matt. 11:19). (This doesn’t mean Jesus condoned their behavior. In fact the Bible points out in several places that a lot of these sinners changed their ways after encountering Jesus). [Read more…]
When I was in my early twenties, I was caught driving 56 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour zone on my way to church! The highway patrolman was upset with me because he had written me a previous ticket for going way too fast and I hired an attorney who pleaded it down to 75 mph and that kept me from losing my license at the time. The highway patrolman was mad at me because he knew I should have lost my license from the previous speeding incident. Even if he hadn’t of been upset with me, he still had every right to give me a ticket for going 1 mile per hour over the speed limit. I broke the law. There was nothing I could do except pay the fine. I was guilty as charged. [Read more…]
I believe in Jesus. What does this statement really mean? What does it mean to you? These may sound like silly questions, but I’m being quite serious. I wear glasses. I can say that I believe in glasses, but until I actually put them on they won’t help me see any better. In other words, I can believe in my glasses but they don’t benefit me until I actually put them on. [Read more…]
I have a friend who knows that he needs Jesus. Unfortunately, my friend thinks that he has to “clean up his act” before God will accept him. I wish my friend could realize the true nature of God. God is righteous, Holy and just. God is perfect. It’s too bad that my friend doesn’t realize that he can never measure up to God’s standard. The Bible says that there is none righteous, no not one. None of us have kept all of the 10 Commandments in thought, word and deed, so we can can never measure up to God’s standard. The Bible also states that all liars will have their part in the lake of fire (Rev. 21:8). Again, we cannot meet God’s standard on our own. [Read more…]
