I ended the time witnessing at Missouri State University on Wednesday by walking backwards. But praise God, 20 students graciously received New Testaments before I brought a message. One gentleman that said he didn’t need a New Testament was a Navy veteran. I thanked him for his service and he said it was his pleasure. Then he said that he mainly just read reports. I really only had one young man interrupt me briefly at Missouri State University on Wednesday while I was open-air preaching. He did the same thing the week before. Another guy just walked by and smiled like he typically does. But most of the students just walked by without a word. But I had a blessed time handing out New Testaments before open-air preaching. I actually ran out of New Testaments, so I switched to handing out Gospel tracts before it was time to open-air preach. [Read more…]
I’m out here today to praise the Lord. This is the day that the Lord has made. As believers we say thank God or praise the Lord and we really do mean it when we say it. Yes, we thank God and praise God for He is good. We thank God when things go well. There are probably even unbelievers who thank God and praise God when they make it through a cancer scare or maybe when they nearly escape a car accident. [Read more…]
It was 24 degrees Friday night and the wind chill made it even colder. So I have to admit, that I only lasted about 30 minutes witnessing. It was cold but not too cold for mockers. Several people were out walking around. One guy listened to part of the message for a short time. While I was bringing a message, a car pulled up right in front of me. Two guys hopped out and one of them said something before he jumped on top of the trunk of a car parked near me. But his friend started the car up, so the other guy jumped into the car before he drove off. Right toward the end of my message, four people crossed the street and one woman mocked, but I really couldn’t hear what she said.
It wasn’t as cold on Wednesday at Missouri State University, but it was cold, windy and rainy. It rained right up until I started witnessing. There were a couple of mockers that day and the man who mocked me last time I was there smiled like he was going to say something as he walked by, but turned out that he didn’t. The highlight of the time on campus was a student that walked up to me and said, “God bless” and asked, “Would you like a cup of coffee?” I told him no thanks and said “God bless” back to him. I’m always grateful for people who encourage open-air preaching.

I typically name the Super Bowl Outreaches when I write up the ministry updates, but I struggled with the name this year. Last year it was so cold in Minnesota, that Super Cold Super Bowl Outreach seemed a no-brainer. Six years ago in New Orleans we heard someone say “Jesus is ruining New Orleans” so how could I resist a title like that? But this year I had trouble thinking of the right name until I flew back home on Monday from Atlanta, the day after the Super Bowl. Reflecting back over the three days of witnessing, I remembered many conversations with my team leader Andy on how smooth this year’s outreach was going. That’s it! I have always been a Kansas City Chiefs fan and it’s been a really long time since they made it as far as they did this year in the playoffs. I was only six years old when the Chiefs won Super Bowl IV in 1970. So I was sorely disappointed when the Chiefs lost the AFC Championship game to the Patriots.
