There will be no excuses on Judgment Day and make no mistake, there is a day of judgment that is coming. And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment (Hebrews 9:27). A day of reckoning is coming for all unrepentant sinners and unbelief, ignorance, outright rejection or rebellion will be no excuse. Kelly, Conner and I witnessed downtown Friday night and the couple with signs were back. Just like before, they held signs that read, “You Are Wonderful” and “You Are Awesome.” Then on the ground between them, they had a sign that said, “Acceptance Not Judgment.” Since that sign was obviously directed toward us, I wonder if that means we aren’t awesome after all? As people walked past, the couple yelled, “You Are Wonderful” and “You Are Awesome.” Guess what? Most people that they said this to, repeated the same words back to the couple. According to the 2018 General Society Survey, 23.1% of Americans claim no religion. That’s slightly higher than the number that claim to be Catholic (23%) and the number of evangelicals (22.5%). But these statics really shouldn’t surprise us, at least not those of us who read and believe the Bible. Friday night I witnessed downtown where I open-air preached and handed out some New Testaments. Had a couple of drive by mockers. One said somethings incoherently, but the other one yelled, “Ah, go home.” To which I just said, “God bless you.” While I was bringing the message, a couple came over and stood near me. After I finished up, I went over and talked to them. They said that they don’t go to any church because they don’t believe in once saved always saved. [Read more…]
You may wonder why my friends and I witness downtown on Friday nights; why we keep sharing the Gospel in downtown Springfield, MO. We do so because we are all guilty sinners. Six of us participated in the What Time Is Purple? Outreach at Missouri State University on Wednesday and we praise God that 1,174 students took the booklets. The weather was great and I’m very thankful that Carla, Connie, Sebastian, Vinton and Jerry joined me for the outreach. We pray that God will use the booklets to reach unbelievers and also to encourage believing students in refuting evolution. [Read more…]
A friend of mine doesn’t believe Jesus was sinless. He told me this recently in a business setting. My friend is a professing Christian. I believe he attends a weak theological church and I pray for my friend and his family to truly repent and surrender their lives to Jesus. So even though I have suspected for a long time that my friend may not really be saved, I was still shocked when he told me that he doesn’t believe Jesus was sinless. [Read more…]
With these updates, many times I say what a blessed night we had witnessing downtown, and Friday night was no exception. I say this frequently because it is true. Every night is different and we never know what we are going to see and hear. Friday night we were blessed with several encouragers, several mockers and a great conversation at the end. Are you afraid of the dark? I admit that I was when I was a little kid. All of my kids also had night lights when they were younger because they too were afraid of the dark. People make fun of you if you are afraid of the dark when you get older. But I’m not trying to make fun of you, instead, I’m sincerely asking: are you afraid of the dark?
