According to a PEW Research Center report last year, 80% of Americans believe in God or a higher power. The same report showed that only 56% of Americans believe in the God of the Bible. Since it was only 22 degrees on Wednesday when I witnessed at Missouri State University, I really expected little to no interaction. It turned out to be very little interaction. One young lady stopped for a few seconds and recorded while I was bringing a message. Then shortly after that a young man walked by me saying “You have received your reward.” He was referring to Matthew 6:5, but sadly, he was taking that verse out of context. [Read more…]
I know of people who are looking forward to this new year in 2019. Some are hopeful to get away from drugs or alcohol addictions. Others are looking forward to graduating this year and getting full-time jobs. There seems to be a lot of hope and people looking to reinvent themselves with new beginnings. [Read more…]
Kelly and I had a great time witnessing Friday night. We handed out tracts and I brought the first message. One man across the street from us listened to part of the message. Then Kelly preached after me about holiness. He had a quiet mocker say something as he drove by, but we couldn’t hear him. Then two men across the street mouthed off. We couldn’t hear the first one either, but the second one yelled “That’s the old covenant.” Oh, that was the crux of Kelly’s message. We run into people all the time who profess to be Christians while living in debauchery. But the best line of the night was yet to come and it wasn’t from a mocker. [Read more…]
Missouri State University is currently offering Winter Intersession classes. These are typically one to three week classes offered during Christmas break and they must be intense. It is my understanding that the students have to cover the same amount of material that they would in a regular semester class. It’s been several years since I’ve witnessed at MSU during one of these intersession class times and I found the campus nearly deserted. [Read more…]

Friday night Pastor Joshua, Thomas and I witnessed downtown. Thomas typically chases people down the sidewalk whether they accept or refuse a tract. Friday night I witnessed him walking with people to the East, West and South. This is not unusual. We are quickly coming upon the New Year. This is when many people give up things or vow to improve themselves. Some people commit to losing weight, exercising more, saving money, finding a friend or a new job. The list could go on and on.
