Love And Honor My Wife

I love and honor my wife. Yes, I am the spiritual leader of our home, but that doesn’t mean that I run roughshod over my godly wife. The apostle Paul said a man is to love his wife as Jesus loved the church (Ephesians 5:25). How did Jesus love the church? He died for us true believers! The reason I’m pointing this out is because my precious wife requests that I don’t do open-air preaching downtown on Friday nights when I’m by myself. (Sometimes my wife comes out with me, but we drove 14 hours back from Michigan on Thursday and she only had four hours sleep. So obviously I didn’t ask her to go downtown with me). Friday night, my ministry partners couldn’t make it, so I was witnessing on my own. Because I love and honor my wife, I didn’t open-air preach. Ministry Update January 14, 2017

Friday night was cold; it was 22 degrees and felt like 8 degrees with the wind chill. I thought it might be good practice for the Super Bowl Outreach coming up the first part of February, since the Super Bowl is going to be in Minneapolis, MN this year. I’m glad I got get a chance to see a little of what it might be like, because just having my fingers uncovered for 5 minutes made them so cold and stiff that I couldn’t turn the pages of the Bible. Wake The Dead

Wake the dead. No, I’m not talking about zombies or the living dead. I’m talking about waking the dead, as in several biblical accounts of Jesus raising people from the dead. He raised up the son of the widow at Nain. Jesus also raised Jarius’ daughter from the dead. It’s only natural that people talk about the birth of Jesus around Christmas time. People all around the world celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. It is an exciting time. But why was Jesus born in the first place? Why did He leave Heaven to come to the very earth He created and be born of the virgin Mary and the Holy Spirit? Why did Jesus do this? He was born to die. I tried something different on Wednesday since there weren’t any classes in session at MSU because of Christmas break.  I held a sign at the corner of Glenstone and Battlefield during the lunch hour. The sign states: Jesus Came To Save His People From Their Sins. Are You One Of His People? Have You Repented And Surrendered Your Life To Jesus? It was only five days until Christmas. Most people were probably thinking about shopping or lunch. Maybe some were even thinking about Christmas – about the birth of Jesus. Love And Obedience

We frequently run into people while out street witnessing that have a wrong view of God’s love. Since the Bible says God is love, they wrongly assume that because God is love, He will overlook sin. After all, He is love. But the Bible doesn’t say God overlooks sin because He is love. If that were the case, then Jesus died in vain. But He did not die in vain. Jesus didn’t die on the cross for guilty sinners so we could sin freely. No, He suffered, bled and died to save His people from their sins (Matthew 1:21). Instead of this wrong, low view of love, what does God want from us? He wants love and obedience.  [Read more…]
