Many times we encounter mockers while street witnessing. For example, on Wednesday at MSU while I was bringing a message, Quinn the skateboarding atheist skated by and shook his fist at me. I just pleaded with the students to not continue shaking their fists at God. That they need to repent and trust Jesus. We also encounter mockers downtown (like Conner and I had Friday night). But after open-air preaching at MSU, I walked over to a student who listened to the end of the message. I handed him a tract and he gladly received it. Student Says The Roman Catholic Church Wrote The New Testament

Ministry Update October 14, 2104

On Wednesday at Missouri State University I had one encourager and two mockers. I also encountered a statement that I hadn’t heard before, a student says the Roman Catholic Church wrote the New Testament. Now I have to admit that students sometimes crack me up because they believe anything and everything they see or hear on the internet. Yet, they don’t believe the Bible except for Matthew 7:1 where they quote “Judge not lest ye be judged.” But claiming the Roman Catholic Church wrote the New Testament is about as bad as it gets.  [Read more…]

I’m going to ask you a question tonight that you may never have been asked before. But this is a serious question. Are you an ungodly person? Are you ungodly? Most people when offered a Gospel tract respond with “No, I’m good.” Most people think they are good, but are you? Are you really a good person or are you an ungodly one? Silent Mockers

Ministry Update October 7, 2018

Unlike last week where I encountered vocal mockers at Missouri State University, this week was silent mockers. Not a single person said a word, but I could tell by the look in their eyes that they didn’t want to hear the message. Maybe they don’t like the method of open-air preaching. Either way, I could see that many students were silent mockers. One student stood and listened for a while. I asked him if he had any questions and he just said no, so I kept bringing the message. A little later Brittany stopped to listen before she had to head on to class. She smiled and waved as she left. It’s always great to see her. They Repented Not

I was reading the Bible the other day and ran across these heart-breaking words – they repented not. Jesus is speaking and He’s talking about the cities where He performed miracles, where He preached the Gospel and they would not listen. They did not have ears to hear. They did not repent. There was an Awaken The Dawn event in the park next to our normal witnessing spot Friday night, so Conner and I witnessed at the corner of South and Walnut. We encountered many mockers there and after we both brought messages and handed out tracts, we went back to our normal witnessing spot. There, we also encountered more mockers. But in addition to the mockers, we also heard a phrase that we’ve heard many times while witnessing downtown: I go to church.  [Read more…]

Ministry Update September 23, 2018

Last week was an encouraging, you might even say fun week of evangelizing. There were several conversations, I handed out Gospel tracts and invited people to my church. This Wednesday at MSU was not that way. One student sat and listened to part of the message, but I also had two mockers. One mouthed off something and kept walking (I call these student’s drive-by mockers) and the other mocker didn’t say a single word. He just took several pictures from different angles, but that was it. Sadly, the majority just walked by and appeared apathetic. What Is Repentance?

My friends and I come out here on the streets and plead with people to repent and trust Jesus as their Lord and Savior. We call unrepentant sinners to repent. Yes, we are merely calling you to do what Jesus Himself said. Jesus said “unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.” He also said “repent and believe the Gospel.” The Bible says that we are to “have repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.” So it is very biblical for us to plead with people to repent and trust Jesus. Laughing Her Way To Hell

Conner and I had a great time witnessing downtown Friday night. There was a Pokémon Go event, so there were a lot of people milling around. I brought the first message and I had a couple of mockers. One guy stopped his SUV in the road to tell me that God is just a construct of our mind. I don’t know if it was right or wrong, but I told him to “go on to Hell because that’s where you want to go anyway.” I’ve heard the old-time preacher Rolfe Barnard say that and it just came out of my mouth. Then a little later a young woman walked by with her friends and she said laughingly. “I’m going to Hell and I’m so happy about it.” She may very well be laughing her way to Hell, but she won’t be laughing once she gets there.  [Read more…]

Sin Means To Miss The Mark

On Wednesday at Missouri State University I couldn’t get a permit for my usual spot. So I open-air preached at Strong Hall. I like Strong Hall, it was the first spot I witnessed at when I started witnessing at MSU around seven years ago. Toward the end of the message, a young woman stopped to listen and then she came over to talk afterwards. She studies Hebrew at the university and she said the Greek word for sin means to miss the mark. To that I said a hearty Amen!   [Read more…]
