You Know You Look At Porn
Ministry Update October 20, 2019
A guy mocked me the whole time I brought a message downtown Friday night. He was in the apartment building across the street. The mocker spoke in a monotone voice. He must have been funny, because several people laughed as they walked by. All that I really heard him say was something to the effect that I’m out there every Friday night and that he wasn’t happy about it. After open-air preaching, I handed out Gospel tracts. While standing on the corner, the mocker kept yelling, “No one wants your little cards.” Then he also yelled, “You know you look at porn.”
I had pretty much ignored him to this point, but I turned around and told him that I don’t look at porn. The guy doesn’t believe that there’s anyone who doesn’t watch porn. The message I brought was from Mark chapter seven where Jesus says evil comes from within our hearts and He lists several sins. One of the sins Jesus mentions is sexual immorality. So earlier I had stated that looking at pornography was a sin, it’s being sexually immoral.
Mocker Called Me A Liar
Any sexual relations outside of biblical marriage is sexual immorality. The mocker called me a liar because I preached against sexual immorality. He wrongly assumed that I look at porn. Evidently he assumes that just because he watches porn, everyone else does too. But I told him that I am a follower of Jesus Christ, I have repented of my sins and put my trust in Him. I don’t look at porn.
The mocker just kept mocking. Unfortunately, he got the attention of several people passing by including three young women. They refused tracts and nodded toward his building, encouraging him in his mocking God. Then a guy walked by me and refused a tract. After he passed me, he turned around and said, “What the f makes you think you have all the answers?” I told him that I don’t have all the answers, but I know where to find them and that’s in the Bible.
He mocked again, and I told him that he needs to repent and trust Jesus or he will join the mocker from the apartment building in Hell, if they both die in their sins. The guy just turned around and walked on, but interestingly enough, the mocker in the apartment building stopped mocking. I also noticed that the apartment mocker had the lights off in his apartment and just had the window cracked open a little ways. His mocking in the dark just reminded me of John 3:19 where Jesus says men love darkness rather than light because their deeds are evil.
Shouldn’t We Warn People About Hell?
Some Christians will probably be aghast that I warned these men that they will go to Hell if they don’t repent and trust Jesus. If this describes you, then I ask you, where do you think unrepentant sinners end up after they die? If you have a biblical viewpoint, then you know they are headed for Hell. Why shouldn’t we warn people to flee from the wrath to come?
Isn’t the most loving thing we can do is tell others the truth? Shouldn’t we do all that we can to plead with people to repent and surrender their lives to Jesus before it’s too late? I did have some encouragers before open-air preaching. I handed out New Testaments and some people gladly took one while a couple of others said they didn’t need them because they already have their own and they said they are fellow believers.
Savor Of Life Unto Life Or A Savor Of Death Unto Death
At MSU on Wednesday the Bible verse about the Gospel being a savor of life unto life or a savor of death unto death came to mind (2 Corinthians 2:16). While open-air preaching an older gentleman stopped and listened briefly before he had to continue on his way. But before he walked away, he gave a hearty “Amen!” I agree with him completely. I love hearing the Gospel ; whether it’s from an open-air preacher, Gospel tract or someone’s testimony. The Gospel is a sweet savor of life unto life and I love hearing it.
Then later on I was talking about sexual immorality (even though it was a different message from Friday night, still one of the same sins that I brought up at the campus) and I stated how pornography is a sexual sin. About that time a young man turned the corner and raised both fists in the air and said “Yeah!” He was proudly admitting that he looks at porn. The message was a savor of death unto death to some. May God convict the young man over his sins and grant him repentance and faith in Jesus.
Student Recorded Message And Tracting Before Message
A student sitting on a nearby bench recorded the first part of the message. He was the same student that asked me to read Ezekiel 25:17 a couple of weeks ago. I’m not sure if he’s doing a school project or not, but I’d like to ask him about it next time I see him. The polite mocker avoided me the last couple of weeks, but he was back this time. He started to say something, then changed his mind and walked on past me.
I got to the campus about thirty minutes early, so I handed out tracts, walking a different way to the witnessing spot. It was great because several students took tracts that I normally don’t see. Right when I got near the spot, I ran into four Asians. The woman was holding a small child, so I didn’t think she would take one, but she did. Then the three young guys behind her were very precious. I offered each of them a tract and they all took one. They all carefully took the tract with both hands and reverently said “Thank you.”
