You may cheat on your spouse, your employer or on your taxes, but you can’t cheat death. It is the ultimate statistic: 10 out of 10 people die. Over 150,000 people die every day. You and I will be one of those statistics one of these days. You cannot cheat death!
Ecclesiastes 6:6 points out that we all go to the same place, meaning that we all die. But we don’t all stay in the same place. The Bible clearly points out that there will be a Judgment Day and every single human being will stand before God on that great and terrible day. It will be great or terrible depending on where you have placed (or misplaced) your trust during your time on this earth.
If you have repented of your sins by turning away from them and put your trust in Jesus Christ, then Judgment Day will be a great day. Romans 2:10 states, “But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile.” (This isn’t talking about working your way to Heaven, there is no goodness in us – Romans 3:10-12). Once God saves you then works follow. You are so grateful that God saved you that you want God to use you to help further His kingdom.
But to those who have not repented and put their faith in Jesus, Judgment Day will be a terrible day in deed. Romans 2:4-5 says, “Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance? But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God.”
Romans 2:8-9 further states, “But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile.”
If Jesus Christ is not your Lord and Savior, then you will be in big trouble on Judgment Day. You will be without excuse. The Bible says that you will give an account for every idle word that you have ever spoken! (Matthew 12:36). You will be guilty of sinning against our Holy God and it will be too late turn back. Your punishment will already be set. The Good Judge will sentence you to go to Hell for all of eternity (Matthew 18:8).
This is so serious. Please turn away from your sins and put your trust in Jesus Christ our Lord. Don’t count on a prayer you uttered one time (possibly a long time ago) in church to save you from the wrath of God. If there has been no change in your inner and outer life after you became a Christian, then you truly haven’t been saved. You are a false convert, just like I was for over 30 years. Please, please repent from your sins and put your faith in Jesus Christ. Don’t put this off. Chose life – eternal life.
