Yes I Do!
Ministry Update February 17, 2019
I really only had one young man interrupt me briefly at Missouri State University on Wednesday while I was open-air preaching. He did the same thing the week before. Another guy just walked by and smiled like he typically does. But most of the students just walked by without a word. But I had a blessed time handing out New Testaments before open-air preaching. I actually ran out of New Testaments, so I switched to handing out Gospel tracts before it was time to open-air preach.
After finishing up the message, I handed out more tracts on the way back to my car. About half-way there, a gentleman drove his pickup right in front of me on the sidewalk, evidently to do some work for the university. So I waited for him to get out of the truck and I handed him a Chapel Library tract – Do You Know Jesus Christ? He took the tract and I walked on. Then I turned around when he hollered at me, “Yes I do!”
Great Way To End Witnessing That Day
Hearing the gentleman say Yes I do was a great way to end witnessing at the campus that day. No, I don’t know if the man is truly saved or not, but he did have the same reaction I would have had if someone handed me a tract like that. I always hope and pray that professing Christians will take the time to read the tract and may God convict them if they are a false convert. If they are truly saved, I pray that they will hand the tract to someone else.
Many times over the years, professing Christians have become upset when they realized I handed them a Gospel tract. I don’t understand that reaction. I would never get mad at someone for handing me a Gospel tract. Frankly, I’ve only been given tracts a handful of times while out witnessing. But I don’t get mad about it. First of all, I’m really glad that there are people handing out tracts. Secondly, I’m always curious which tracts they are using and if they are biblical tracts. To see if they call people to repent and trust Jesus.
