Wrath Of God Against Disobedient People
Is God angry with you? No, you say? How do you know? Have you repented from your sins and surrendered your life to Jesus? No, you say? Well, if Jesus Christ is not your Lord and Savior, then God is angry with you. The wrath of God against disobedient people includes yourself. If this is you tonight, this is a scary place to be.
The wrath of God remains upon you. You have made yourself an enemy to God and you are disobeying God. This should frighten you worse than any horror movie ever made. The great Creator God is angry with you over your disobedience to Him.
Jesus said unless you repent, you will all likewise perish (Luke 13:3). If you have not repented from your sins and put your trust in Jesus, then you are still rebelling against God. Your sins have not been forgiven. God’s wrath abides upon you. He that believes on the Son has everlasting life: and he that believes not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abides on him (John 3:36). It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God (Hebrews 10:31).
Mortify Your Members
Colossians 3:5-6 states: Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: For which things’ sake the wrath of God comes on the children of disobedience. Don’t miss this, God’s wrath is against those who are disobedient to Him.
Are you disobedient to God? Are you a fornicator – someone having sexual relations outside of biblical marriage between a man and a woman? Uncleanness is lewdness or someone committing fornication or adultery. Inordinate affection is excessive or irregular or disorderly desires. Evil concupiscence is wicked lusting or unlawful sexual desires. Coveting is a strong desire to have something that belongs to someone else.
Please notice that most of these sins named in Colossian 3:5-6 specifically deal with sexual relations or even sexual desires. Are you disobeying God tonight through unbiblical sexual relations or desires? Do you look at pornography? If so, you are disobeying God and He is angry with you. Are you involved in sexual relations outside of biblical marriage between a man and a woman? If so then God’s wrath abides upon you.
More Than Sexual Sins
Being disobedient to God is more than committing sexual sins through thoughts, words or actions. Idolatry was also on the list. Anything you love in this world more than you love God is an idol. It can be sports, movie stars, singers, your job, money, cars or anything that has your heart. Are you an idolater tonight? Who or what has your heart? What do you love most in this world? Are you disobeying God?
In Colossians 3:8-9 the apostle Paul also lists lying, anger and filthy communication as also being disobedient to God. Folks, the question isn’t: have you ever told a lie, but how many lies have you told in your life? For most of us, it’s too many to count. The Bible says being angry at someone without cause is the same as committing murder in your heart. How is your speech tonight? Do filthy words come out of your mouth?
Are you disobedient to God? The wrath of God is against disobedient people. Don’t walk by and casually fluff this off. This is serious. You are either a follower of Jesus Christ or you are not. You are either on the narrow way of salvation or you are on the broad road to Hell. This is life and death folks. This is eternal life or eternal, never ending death. There’s nothing more important than where you will spend eternity.
What Do You Have To Do To Go To Hell?
What do you have to do to go to Hell? Absolutely nothing. Just continue on the same path of living for self and denying Jesus Christ as Lord and you are already Hell bound. We have all sinned against God, every one of us. Jesus said all liars will have their part in the lake of fire and brimstone. Again, Jesus said unless you repent, you will all likewise perish. Don’t continue racing down the broad road to destruction. Don’t continue going through life with God’s wrath abiding upon you. Don’t continue being disobedient to God.
Repent from your sins and trust Jesus with all your heart. Surrender your life fully and completely to Jesus Christ the Lord. He is the only Savior. Submit to the Lordship of Jesus. Recognize that you are a sinner and that you really do deserve eternal damnation. Admit your sins to God. Confess and forsake your sins. Cry out for God to save you. Repent and put your faith in Jesus.
Repentance Toward God And Faith Toward Our Lord Jesus Christ
Acts 20:20-21 says: And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publicly, and from house to house, Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. Repent from your sins and put your full faith and trust in the Lord Jesus. He is Lord of all. Acknowledge this tonight. Bow your knee and confess with your tongue that Jesus Christ is Lord.
Jesus won’t rule your life if you are still sitting on the throne of your life. You and Jesus can’t both run your life. If Jesus is not your Lord and Savior, then you foolishly still think that you are in control. But you are not. You can’t add one second to your life. You can’t add one inch to your height. You really aren’t even in control right now, but you foolishly think so, if you have not surrendered your life to Jesus.
But you don’t have the power to wipe out your sins. All you can do is keep adding sin upon sin. You are merely storing up more wrath against the day of wrath. God’s anger toward you over your sins is growing hotter and hotter. One day you will breathe your last breath and you will split Hell wide open after you die, if you die without Jesus Christ.
Don’t Continue With God’s Wrath Abiding Upon You
Oh, I plead with you tonight, don’t do it. Don’t die in your sins and perish in your sins. Don’t suffer God’s righteous anger and judgment against you forever and ever. Please don’t continue with God’s wrath abiding upon you over your disobedience to God.
All sin is rebellion against God. All sin is disobedience to God. Don’t die in your sins and be eternally damned. Oh, don’t die in your sins and spend eternity in the lake of fire and brimstone where unrepentant sinners will suffer God’s righteous anger for all eternity.
Choose life, eternal life. Life is precious. We are made in the very image of God. Don’t perish in your sins and suffer God’s righteous wrath forever and ever. Choose life. Jesus is the life and the resurrection. Jesus said: I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes unto the Father, but by me (John 14:6). Search the scriptures; for in them you think you have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. And you will not come to me, that you might have life (John 5:39-40).
He That Has The Son Has Life
And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life (1 John 5:11-12). Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believes in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this? (John 11:25-26).
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16). Don’t continue going your own way. Your own way leads to Hell. We are to have no other gods before the one true God. When you are going your own way, you are placing yourself above God, you are putting yourself in God’s place. That only leads to destruction and God’s wrath remains upon you.
But God so loved the world, that He sacrificed His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life. Don’t die in your sins and perish in eternal damnation. Receive life, eternal life today. Repent from your sins and surrender your life to Jesus Christ the Lord.
Trust Jesus Today
Trust Jesus today. He is the giver of life, eternal life. It is a free gift, but you must receive it. Recognize that you are a sinner. Confess your sins to God. Cry out for God to save you. Repent and believe the Gospel. Submit your life to Jesus Christ from this day forward.
Jesus isn’t asking you to say a one-time prayer or count on a one-time religious experience. No, Jesus said, deny yourself, pick up your cross daily and follow Him. Jesus is looking for true followers. Jesus came to seek and save the lost. Oh, will you admit that you are lost tonight? God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Humbly come to Jesus tonight. Admit that you are lost and that you need to be saved. Cry out to Jesus, the one and only Savior.
Colossians 3:1-17 says: If you then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sits at the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For you are dead, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then you shall also appear with him in glory.
The Wrath Of God Comes On The Children Of Disobedience
Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: For which things’ sake the wrath of God comes on the children of disobedience: In the which you also walked some time, when you lived in them. But now also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
Lie not one to another, seeing that you have put off the old man with his deeds; And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all. Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man has a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you are called in one body; and be thankful.
Let The Word Of God Dwell In You Richly
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
When you surrender your life to Jesus, you are no longer the same. You dwell in Christ Jesus and He dwells in you. Now you have peace with God. You are no longer an enemy to God. He now calls you friend. When Jesus is your Lord and Savior, you become a grateful person. You do give thanks and praise God. You sing hymns and read God’s word and you tell others about such a great of salvation as you have received.
Salvation is of the Lord. Come to the Lord Jesus and be saved. Repent from your sins and trust in Jesus with all your heart. Then God’s wrath will no longer be against you. Jesus will have paid your sin debt upon the cross. Come to Jesus and receive eternal life. Do this tonight. Today is the day of salvation. Repent and believe the Gospel.
