Ministry Update August 9, 2015
Actually my friends and I witnessed downtown last Friday night like we always do. There just happened to be a bunch of immoral men and women downtown who were protesting because women can’t run around in public without wearing a top. The name of this rally is so offensive that I don’t even want to repeat it here.
Since this group had a permit to be on the square, we started out at the corner of South and McDaniel. The police came over right away and said that we couldn’t be there. The first officer that talked with us was friendly and I pointed out the irony that around 15 police officers were talking to Aaron Brummitt about where we were set up to street preach while one block North there were many people running around half naked. I pointed out that we live in a mixed up world. He didn’t argue with me.
So instead of moving 125 feet down the street as the police said we needed to do, we moved all the way down to the next corner; that way we wouldn’t interfere with businesses on that block. While all of this was going on, John with our group was handing out tracts left and right. He is a tracting machine. After we moved to South and Walnut, we finally started off singing a few hymns. Then I brought a message and had a very loud heckler that drew a large crowd (and there was also a crowd outside the bar across the street). He was so loud that a policeman even came over and talked to him, but the heckler was correct in that he wasn’t in my face and that he had just as much right to be there as I did. He was right.
The Loud heckler told me that he had never been angry, but he was cussing every now and then and he was very obviously upset with God. It turns out that his 3 month old son is in the hospital and going through many surgeries and in constant pain. The man was mad at God over his son’s suffering. I told him that I was very sorry about his son. I pointed out that we live in a fallen world. The rain falls on the just and the unjust. The sun shines on the righteous and unrighteous alike. The man told me that his son’s name is Kyler and I told him that I would pray for him. I ask you to join me and pray that God would heal Kyler completely.
In addition to Aaron, Erica, Diana, Elise, Jimmy, Sarah and John from Aaron’s church, we were especially blessed in a couple of different ways. First of all, one of my prayer partners – Kat, joined us downtown and she prayed while we were street preaching. She wanted to join us because she knew how wicked it was going to be. I thank God that Kat showed up. Secondly, we were very blessed because about five or six teenagers came over and surrounded Aaron on the backside while John and I were standing in front of him while he was preaching.
You see, many people from the immoral rally on the square decided to march down the street and heckle us. They started when I was on the box and they continued when Aaron was preaching. I thank God for these young men that decided to stand up for Jesus Christ while the Gospel went forth. And another real blessing was that these young men are members of the same church I go to – Crossway Baptist Church! I love seeing young Christians who aren’t afraid or ashamed of Jesus Christ. Jesus won’t be ashamed of them on Judgment Day.
We handed out many tracts. One lady came up to me and said that she wanted to go to Aaron’s church on Sunday, so I handed her one his church’s tracts. I think John personally handed out around 300 tracts (and remember this was overall a tough crowd) and my other friends also ran out of tracts. May God bless and multiply these tracts and may He convict and convert sinners.
Aaron talked to an atheist at the end of the night (pictured below) for probably 30 to 45 minutes. I think his name started with an S. May God grant this young many repentance and faith in Jesus. The last picture is of John toward the end of the night. He’s absolutely worn out and sitting in the chair. On the right hand side of the picture is Jimmy and his family. Jimmy recorded the preaching for the night. I thank God for my friends who come out week after week witnessing for Jesus.
————————-
Earlier in the week, my family and I were on vacation so I didn’t get to witness at MSU. But while we were in Terre Haute, IN, I did have the opportunity to do some stoplight preaching. Many drivers and passengers rolled down their windows to hear the message. Also, behind me was a very busy gas station. A truck driver listened to pretty much the whole message. One strange thing happened, I had a Mormon pull up in his car and wanted to argue that the other sheep in the Bible were Native American Indians. This is a lie straight from Hell. The Jewish people who believe in Jesus are His sheep and the other sheep listed in the Bible are the Gentiles – all non-Jewish people who believe in Jesus.
(This update is being shared to encourage Christians to share their faith in Jesus Christ with this lost and dying world. Christian: are you witnessing? Are you telling people about Jesus? Are you telling lost souls how you once were lost but now are found?)

Dennis, this is a great and encouraging report. God bless you and those who went out with you all. I’m praying for the 3 month old boy in the hospital. God bless.
