Why The Message – I Would Have Eaten The Forbidden Fruit?
Why the message – I Would Have Eaten The Forbidden Fruit? Because a young lady said that to me while I was witnessing in downtown Springfield, Mo in September 2017. I had open-air preached on a different corner earlier that evening and a couple of friends and I then moved to a different spot downtown to hand out tracts. A group of college students walked by and one girl stopped and asked if I also witness on campus (at Missouri State University) and I told her that I do witness there too. Then she asked me why I do this? Asking a street evangelist this question is absolutely wonderful. This allowed me to share the Gospel with Antonia and her friends, all because she asked the question why do you do this.
I explained to Antonia that Adam and Eve sinned in the garden of Eden and we have all sinned since then (Genesis 3). Then I relayed how Eve ate of the forbidden fruit and shared it with Adam. One of Antonia’s friends piped up, “I would have eaten the forbidden fruit.” We all laughed, but then I said we all would have eaten the forbidden fruit sooner or later because we have all already eaten the forbidden fruit of sin. We have all sinned against God; each and every one of us (Romans 3:23). There is none righteous, no not one (Romans 3:10).
All sin is rebellion against God, so yes, in that respect, we have all partaken of the forbidden fruit, just like Adam and Eve. I then shared the Gospel with them; how Jesus is the only Savior and pleaded with them to repent from eating the forbidden fruit and surrender their lives to Jesus. So the message of I Would Have Eaten The Forbidden Fruit came from an actual street witnessing encounter. That’s one of the things I love about street witnessing, you never know what’s going to happen or what people will say. Lifting up Jesus Christ is first and foremost and there’s no better way of glorying the Lord Jesus than sharing the glorious Gospel with this lost and dying world. If you are truly a follower of Jesus Christ, please share the Gospel with others. Tell them how you turned from your sins and turned to Christ. Plead with them to turn to Christ Jesus and live.
