Ministry Update August 4, 2015
Why stoplight preaching? Why not? Jesus said go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature (Mark 16:15). Isn’t a street corner part of the world? Aren’t drivers and passengers part of His creatures?
Jesus also told the parable, And the lord said unto the servant, ‘Go out into the highways and hedges and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled (Luke 14:23). Not only is stoplight preaching biblical, it is also quite literal. Go out into the highways. On August 2, 2015 my wife, youngest daughter and I were on vacation and we stopped in Terre Haute, IN. After we ate supper and drove around town a little bit and we came back to our hotel room. I prayed about it and was led by the Lord to go stoplight preaching on a busy intersection near our room. My voice didn’t last 30 minutes, but I pleaded with people to repent and surrender their lives to Jesus while I held up a pocket size Gideon’s Bible.
A Mormon pulled into the gas station behind me and wanted to know how effective street preaching was. I told him the Lord led me to street preach and he told me the Lord led him to tell me that Jesus preached to the Indians in America and that he could show me in the Bible if I wanted to learn. I told him that I’ve read through the Bible many times and it doesn’t say anything about Jesus preaching to North American Indians. He argued that they were the other sheep. I told him the Gentiles are the other sheep. He drove off telling me that I would have to face this on Judgment Day. I told him that I was alright with that. There was a large truck at the gas station behind me and the truck driver heard most of my message. A couple of drivers yelled as they drove by and one driver rolled up their window. But several of the drivers appeared to be listening while they waited for the light to change. I hope and pray that they heard what they needed to hear and that God would convict and convert unbelievers.

On Tuesday July 28 2015 I witnessed at Missouri State University during my lunch hour. There was a construction worker there who had a generator going right next to the free speech area and it was loud. All of a sudden he started yelling and jumping around. He never would say, but I think he may have gotten shocked from a short in the concrete saw that he was using. I walked closer to him and kept asking him if he needed help or if he wanted me to call someone. He turned the generator off and finally told me that he didn’t need help. An older gentleman was sitting on a bench listening to the open-air message and he also went over to offer the worker help, but he refused help from him too.
The worker didn’t seem seriously injured so I told the students that life is short. We never know when we could be killed by an electric shock or a drunk driver or who knows what. I pleaded with them that now is the time to get right with God. After the message I hung around for a several minutes and handed out some tracts.
(This update is being posted to encourage Christians to share their faith in Christ with others. Jesus commanded us to go. Are you being obedient? Are you sharing the Gospel as you “go through life?” You may never stand on a box or a street corner, but you can share your faith in Jesus with a lost family member, co-worker or stranger you meet out and about. Life is short. Please be obedient to Jesus Christ our Lord and tell others about the glorious Gospel.)
