What Church?
Ministry Update November 24, 2019
The older Asian gentleman walking toward me had taken a Gospel tract the week before at MSU, so I really didn’t think he would take another one. But to my surprise, he did. He actually stopped when I handed him the Chapel Library Tract Coming To Christ, by Thomas Willcox. Since he stopped and looked at it, I asked him if Jesus Christ is his Lord and Savior. He didn’t answer, but kept looking at the tract and asked, “What church?”
I tried to explain that it wasn’t about a church. But then I realized that I wasn’t really getting anywhere and he seemed more interested in what church than what I was trying to say. Since I didn’t have a church invite card on me, I asked for the tract back and wrote Crossway Baptist Church and the church’s address on the back of the tract. Then he said “Sunday?” I replied, “Yes, Sunday at 11 am.” He thanked me and said he plans on coming to church on Sunday. Hopefully he will.
Why Are You Doing This?
The same young man that said no one is listening to you last we, started commenting again this week. He looked at me with an exasperated look and wanted to know, “Why are you doing this? No one is listening?” I replied, “If no one is listening, why does it bother you? Why does it bother you that I’m doing this?” He didn’t have a reply and walked on. I thought it was a valid question. Why does it bother him so much each week of no one is listening anyway? Of course, I believe Jesus is being glorified by His precious name being lifted up in the open. So I don’t think it’s a waste of time, even if no one is listening.
Next, a young woman mocked, but I couldn’t hear what she said. Then a young man and young woman walked past me. He started chanting “Love, love, love.” Then he repeated it again. This time, the young lady joined him. So they both kept repeating, “Love, love, love”, in tune with the old Beatles song Love Is All You Need. I admit I got a chuckle out of this. I just said, “It’s out of love that Jesus died on the cross for guilty sinners. Repent and trust Jesus.” Then I handed out some more tracts after finishing up the message. Most students were very polite and graciously received the tracts.
