Have you ever noticed how much time we spend in life waiting? While I’m waiting for your answer I’ll give you some examples off the top of my head. We wait at the doctor’s office, in lines at the grocery store, at the license bureau, at sporting events, at concerts, at airports or train stations, at traffic lights and we wait while we are holding for someone during a phone call. The list could go on and on, but you get the picture, we wait…a lot. What are you waiting on? What are you waiting for?
Some people are waiting on Heaven. They are waiting to get there to be in the presence of almighty God and Jesus Christ our Lord. But the funny thing is if you are a Christian, you don’t have to wait! That’s right. You can enjoy the kingdom of God right now, even while you are here on earth. In fact, true Christians should be experiencing the kingdom of God right now.
Mark 1:14-15 states, Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent, and believe the gospel. Did you catch that? Jesus went to Galilee preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God. Then in verse 15 He says that the kingdom is at hand. It is near.
For born again followers of Jesus Christ, the kingdom of God resides inside you! Luke 17:20-21 says, And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God comes not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold the kingdom of God is within you.
Christian, are you living your life as if the kingdom of God is actually inside you? If you aren’t living this way, why not? Are you waiting to die and go to Heaven before you are with God? If you are truly a Christian, then stop waiting! In Ephesians 1:13-14 the apostle Paul tells us that when we are saved, we are sealed with the Holy Spirit which is an earnest deposit while we are alive here on earth.
Followers of Jesus, don’t wait until you die to enjoy the kingdom of God. Submit your life fully to Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior and truly enjoy the kingdom of God right here, right now. Stop waiting. Give your life fully to Christ today and follow Him wherever He leads you through the Holy Spirit. Spend time with God today in prayer and through reading the Bible and then go out and share the Good News that you have received with this lost and dying world so they can have a personal relationship with Jesus too.
