Watered Down Gospel

Christian, are you sharing the true Word of God? Are you telling people the true Gospel that’s found in the Bible? Are you warning people to flee from the wrath to come? Are you helping people see their sinfulness in light of God’s righteousness, by taking them through the 10 Commandments? Are you helping them see their need for a Savior?

Or are you promising them that Jesus is an additive, that He will make their life better, that He will improve their life? If so, please stop doing this. The health, wealth and prosperity gospel isn’t even a watered down version of the Gospel, it is a man-made twisted gospel of wishful thinking. It is a perverted gospel that’s comforting people on their way to Hell.

No, a watered down gospel is more like a gospel with no teeth. A gospel that is presented with no negative consequences. A gospel that says “God accepts you just like you are. He doesn’t want you to change because He is love and He loves you no matter what.” With a watered down gospel, you don’t tell people that God is angry with them over their sins (John 3:36). You tell them God forgives them, but He doesn’t require them to repent. Again, a watered down gospel is not the true Gospel.

Please, lovingly point people to the truth and that is that we are all sinners. We have all sinned and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 6:23). There is none righteous no not one and there is nothing we can do to earn salvation. We can’t save ourselves and we can’t work our way to Heaven.

Jesus is the only Savior (Acts 4:12). Jesus died a horrible death on the cross; even though He is the perfect, sinless One. He was buried and on the third day He rose from the grave. God offers eternal life to all who repent and believe the Gospel. Tell others to repent and put their faith in Jesus. Don’t water down the Gospel. Speak the words of truth, the words of life and pray that God will rescue poor souls before they enter the flames of Hell. Preach the Word of God.
