Two For And Two Against Does Not Make It Even
Ministry Update 3/4/18
On Wednesday at Missouri State University, I had two for me and two against me but that doesn’t make it even. Witnessing isn’t like a tug of war. It wasn’t like I had two mockers and two encouragers, so somehow it all evens out. Two for and two against does not make it even. When the Lord is on your side, there’s no contest at all.
One mocker recorded me for a minute or two when I was bringing a message. He laughed the whole time he recorded, but it didn’t matter. I just kept bringing the message. The same with the drive by mocker after him. He mouthed off and kept walking, so I didn’t miss a beat. Just kept sharing the Gospel.
Then a student walked by and smiled and flashed a peace sign as he went on. I told him to have a great day. But here’s why two for and two against didn’t make it even. Brittany came near and listened to the message. She has encouraged me several times in the past. What I appreciate about Brittany is that she stands there intently listening and smiling the whole time she’s there. I believe it thrills her heart to hear Jesus being lifted up in the open-air and I agree with her 100%. It brings me great joy when I hear others lifting up our precious Lord to this lost and dying world.
Two For And Two Against Makes It Even?
After I finished the message, Brittany was still standing nearby. So I went over and talked to her for a little while. I thanked her for her encouragement. She told me that she still prays for me and the ministry, so I told her I greatly appreciate that. I asked how her semester is going and she said it’s going pretty well. Then I asked her what her plans were when she finishes college and she said that she hopes to get a good job and pay off her school debt. But she is open to go and do whatever the Lord leads her to do and go where He sends her. It’s great to hear a young person say something like this. May the Lord bless her studies and direct her when she graduates.
Then Brittany wanted to know if it would be ok if she put me on her church’s prayer list. I said, yes, by all means. I firmly believe in the power of prayer. It’s even more amazing to me because we belong to different denominations. I told Brittany I greatly appreciate her prayers and that I pray God blesses her studies at MSU and with a job when she graduates. Two for and two against makes it even? Not even close. God’s encouragement through Brittany makes it no contest at all. Thanks and praise be to God and I thank Him for sending such a wonderful encourager my way as He did through Brittany.
Fairly Quiet Night
Then my wife and I witnessed downtown Friday night. It was Art Walk (first Friday) and there were several people walking by as I brought a message. We were blessed with one encourager who gave a thumbs-up as he walked by. We also had a couple of mockers. It always amazes me when people actually stop their vehicle in front of us to mock God. Even though the crowd was pretty decent for the first thirty minutes or so, overall it was a fairly quiet night. So after the message, we walked around the block and handed out tracts. Probably about half the people took tracts while the other half rejected them. But may the Lord bless the message that was proclaimed. May He convict lost souls, encourage true believers and may God use the tracts to reach lost souls.
(These updates are given to encourage Christians to share the Gospel with others. There’s no time like the present to tell someone about Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Plead with lost souls to repent and trust Jesus)
