Couple Of Encouragers And A Couple Of Mockers
Ministry Update July 16, 2019
Friday night I had a couple of encouragers and a couple of mockers. A young man from Hawaii came up and encouraged me before I even brought a message. I was handing out New Testaments at the time and he took one as well as a young Muslim woman. Then I brought a message and didn’t use the amplifier. One driver revved his engine while stopped at the stop sign, trying to drown out the Gospel. Then a couple came by riding bicycles and they stopped near me. They had a vicious looking dog, and the man told me that I better be careful before I get back up on the box using the bullhorn, because his dog wouldn’t like it. I didn’t bother telling him that I wasn’t using a bullhorn. I just told him to have a good night.
Then a couple walked by with their young child and they all smiled. I offered them New Testaments, but they politely said they didn’t need one. After they passed me, man turned around and asked me what my message was tonight. I told him it was about the salvation of the Lord and the passage was from 2 Chronicles 20, how the Lord saved Jehoshaphat and Judah from several nations that were going to attack them and a prophet came to Jehoshaphat and told them to stand firm and see the salvation from the Lord and how the Lord still saves today. The man grinned from ear to ear after hearing this. That’s how you can spot a true believer, those of us who are truly saved, love to hear about our Lord and Savior.
Two Different Responses
My wife and I had two different responses to witnessing at Planned Parenthood. One guy was walking down the sidewalk and he crossed four lanes of traffic to get away from us. Another guy walked by while I was bringing a message. I offered him a New Testament which he took and said thanks. Then a little while later, he walked back by and shook my wife’s hand and thanked us for being out there. She said he wanted to shake my hand, but he didn’t want to interrupt me. I wish I would have known that because I would have shaken his hand. There were several cars there and one couple went in, came back out and smoked by their car. They clearly heard the Gospel. Then she went back in for a little while and came back out. I have no idea why they were there, but I hope and pray they don’t return.
