The Unsparing God
God is known as the great Creator, the one true God, all powerful, all knowing and ever-present God. He’s also called Father God. There is no god beside Him. The Bible has many names for God including Lord God Almighty, the most high God, Lord, Master, the Lord my Shepherd, the Lord that heals, the Lord is peace, the Lord of hosts and the everlasting God, just to name a few. But did you know that the Lord is the unsparing God?
Did you know that God is unsparing when it comes to unrepentant sinners? God is unsparing. God spared not the world during the great flood. It’s been estimated that around 3 Million people lived on the earth at the time of the flood in Noah’s day. Only eight souls were spared while 3 Million perished.
God Spared Not The Old World
And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly (2 Peter 2:5). God spared not the old world, only Noah and the seven other souls on the ark. All unrepentant sinners, the ungodly, died.
God did not spare Sodom and Gomorrha. The men of Sodom were vile and wicked sinners. They wanted to rape the angels that came to direct Lot and his family out of there before they destroyed Sodom and the surrounding wicked cities.
But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter: And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them (Genesis 19:4-5).
Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire (Jude 1:7). God spared not the wicked sinners in these abominable cities.
The Lord Spared Not The Fallen Angels
The Lord spared not the fallen angels. For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment (2 Peter 2:4). I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.
And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day (Jude 1:5-6). Almighty God spared not the disobedient, rebellious angels.
God spared not the old world. He spared not Sodom and Gomorrha. The Lord spared not the fallen angels. And the one true God spared not His only begotten Son. Not that Jesus deserved God’s wrath. No, because God cannot tolerate sin and Jesus willingly took sin upon Himself that us sinful creatures might be saved.
You don’t think God hates sin? Think again. He hates it so badly that He sent His only begotten Son to suffer, bleed and die in the place of sinful man. If there had been any other option, then God would have chosen that option. But without the shedding of blood, there is no remission (or forgiveness) of sin.
Jesus Left His Throne In Heaven
Jesus Christ left His throne in Heaven 2,000 years ago. He was born of the virgin Mary and the Holy Ghost. He came to this earth, the very earth that He created. Jesus lived a perfect, sinless, life, yet He was bruised for our iniquities. By His stripes we are healed. God poured his wrath out over sin upon His own precious son. God hates sin! He is the unsparing God. He spared not His own Son.
What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us (Romans 8:31-31).
God Spared Not His Sinless Son
God spared not His sinless Son. Jesus took the punishment that you and I deserve. We did the crime, yet He paid our fine. Jesus rose from the grave and now sits at the right hand of God the Father and He prays for us, for true believers. But you must receive salvation. The elect are the true believers, the true followers of Jesus Christ. Those of us who have repented and surrendered our lives to Jesus Christ our Lord.
Is this you tonight? Have you cried out for God to have mercy upon you? Have you turned from your sins and turned to Jesus? Are you born again? Have you repented and believed the Gospel? Are you a new creature in Christ? Have your sins been forgiven? Only the shed blood of Jesus can wash away your sins. Do you deny yourself, pick your cross and follow Jesus daily? Are you truly saved?
Why do you need to be saved? Because of the unsparing God. Almighty God didn’t spare the world. He didn’t spare the fallen angels. He didn’t spare Sodom and Gomorrha. God the Father didn’t let His cup of wrath pass from Jesus. Our Lord and Savior drank every drop of the righteous wrath of God. Jesus was the substitute, the propitiation for our sins. And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world (1 John 2:2). God’s wrath was satisfied through the perfect sacrifice of Jesus.
What Makes You Think God Will Spare You?
If God spared not the world, spared not Sodom and Gomorrha, spared not the fallen angels, what makes you think that He will spare you? Oh, do not be deceived tonight. God has righteous anger over unrepentant sinners. If Jesus Christ is not your Lord and Savior, then your sins remain upon you and God’s anger is upon you. He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him (John 3:36).
Do not be deceived. Do not continue going through life foolishly thinking that God will let you into Heaven after you die because you think overall you are a good person. Don’t think God will spare you when you’ve been shown example after example tonight of God not sparing unbelievers. You can’t just be basically good or good most of the time to make it to Heaven. It takes total perfection and none of us are perfect.
That’s why you must turn to the perfect One, to Jesus Christ alone. He is the only sacrifice that is acceptable and pleasing to God. If you repent and put your faith in Jesus, then He takes your sins and gives you His righteousness, His perfection. For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him (2 Corinthians 5:21).
Christians Are Not Perfect
This doesn’t mean that you will be perfect on this earth. We are still sinful creatures living in a sinful and fallen world. But you will no longer be the same when you are truly saved. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new (2 Corinthians 5:17).
A saved life is a changed life. You don’t clean yourself up enough for God to accept you. No, instead you admit that you are a dirty rotten sinner and beg God to save you. Cry out for God’s mercy. Plead with God to save an unworthy sinner such as yourself. If you still think you are a good person, then you are prideful. Know this, God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Humbly bow down before Jesus tonight. Confess and forsake your sins. Repent and trust Jesus. Surrender your life fully and completely to Him.
Salvation is of the Lord. But God commendeth (or demonstrated) his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;
Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself: That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him: In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory (Ephesians 1:3-14).
God Is Unsparing
God is unsparing to those who continue rebelling against Him and who reject Jesus Christ the only Savior of mankind. But God is merciful to those who repent and surrender their lives to Jesus. Oh, when you do this, God adopts you into His family. You are no longer a child of the devil, you become a child of God. We are redeemed through the shed blood of Jesus. God forgives our sins, all our sins. He remembers them no more. In other words, He no longer holds our sins against us. It’s by God’s great grace and mercy that you receive salvation.
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast (Ephesians 2:8-9). Oh, humble yourself tonight. Cry out for God to forgive you for your sins. Repent and put your faith in Jesus. Receive eternal life. When God saves you, He sends the Holy Spirit to live inside you. It is the earnest down payment for eternity to come.
If you reject such a great a salvation, there will be no one to blame but yourself if you die in your sins. You will suffer the righteous eternal flames of damnation over yours sins. You will understand and know that the Lord is the unsparing God. Oh, but if you will repent and cry out for Jesus to save you, God is merciful, kind and loving. Come to Jesus tonight and be saved. Be ye saved. Call upon the name of Jesus and receive everlasting life. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10:13).
Not only can you be spared from eternal punishment, you can receive eternal life. You can receive the abundant life, right now. I’m not talking about the false gospel of health, wealth and prosperity. No, I’m talking about how Jesus said that He would never leave us nor forsake us. The abundant life is Jesus leading you for the rest of your life. If you repent and trust Him. Trust Jesus tonight and receive everlasting life. Then you will be spared from the God’s wrath that you actually deserve. Come to Jesus Christ tonight and be saved. Repent and believe the Gospel.
