Going the wrong way in more ways than one described witnessing downtown Friday night. Even though Conner and I had a slow night, we saw people going the wrong way while driving and people going the wrong way spiritually. People driving the wrong way is a real concern because someone can get hurt or even killed. But people going the wrong way spiritually is an even greater concern. Need To Sugarcoat It

Ministry Update August 26, 2018

Since classes started at Missouri State University this last week, I witnessed there during the lunch hour on Wednesday. Toward the end of the message a student came over to talk to me. He had listened to a good portion of the open-air preaching. He walked up and said, “I like what you do here, but you don’t want to scare off the new students. You need to sugarcoat it.” I didn’t address his concern, we just talked a little bit. Then all of he sudden he laughed and said, “I guess you really can’t sugarcoat it, can you?” Then I told him that I was going to ask him where Jesus sugarcoated it and that I’d be happy to do the same. The best part was he figured out that you really can’t sugarcoat the Gospel and he came to this conclusion without me even addressing it.  [Read more…]

Friday night was another fairly quiet night witnessing downtown. Three of us brought messages, several more sang and handed out tracts, but overall it was quiet. Kelly had one mocker yell “Hail Satan” while he was open-air preaching. Earlier when Rich was nearly finished with his message, a guy drove by right in front of him and flipped Rich off with both hands, leaving no hands on the wheel.  [Read more…]

Every Friday night street witnessing is different. We never know what we are going to encounter. Sometimes mockers, other times encouragers and periodically both. Last week there were many of us witnessing and this week only two of us. Since this was finals week at Missouri State University, I decided to hand out Gospel tracts and not open-air preach on Wednesday. I prayed and hoped that 200 students would take tracts and they did. Praise God for that and may the Lord bless and multiply the tracts. It was fun doing something a little different. It was wonderful Friday night to have seven of us downtown witnessing. Conner brought Pastor Joshua with him and Thomas came with his brother John, who join Kelly, Steven and I. Conner and I were the first ones there, so I read the tract Poor Peddler (a Chapel Library tract) while we were waiting on the rest of the group. It was great having Kelly and his son Steven join me witnessing downtown Friday night. We basically went from having mockers to someone stopping to give us hot chocolate. I got downtown first, so I handed out tracts until Kelly and Steven got there. Since I had some miscellaneous tracts, I just handed them out. Friday night before Thomas joined me witnessing downtown, I handed out several tracts. A group of guys all took tracts. One of the guys stopped and thanked me for being out there. He told me that his mom has been after him to get right with God. I told him that his mom is telling right, he needs to get right with God. Then surprisingly, the guy admitted to me that he is a drunk (his own words). I exhorted him that he needs to repent and trust Jesus (Galatians 5:21).  [Read more…]
