Started Off Slow But Didn’t Stay That Way

Ministry Update July 23, 2017

Friday night witnessing downtown in Springfield, MO started off slow but didn’t stay that way. Joe, Darlene and I got there first and handed out tracts. Most of the people that walked by rejected tracts, but a few took them. Then Kelly joined us, but it was still going slowly at that time. But even before we started preaching, there were some good conversations. Joe and Kelly both were really good at getting into conversations.  [Read more…]

Does It Do Any Good?

Does It Do Any Good?

This last week a friend asked my wife “does it do any good for Dennis to stand and yell at people?” Later in the week a co-worker told me someone asked him the same question about when I witness at MSU. So, it made me think about open-air preaching: Does it do any good?  [Read more…]

Wickedness In The Bible Belt

Ministry Update April 30, 2017

Friday night Aaron, Serenity and I knew it was going to be a wild night witnessing downtown Springfield, MO. Before we even started singing hymns, a woman in the front passenger seat of a car driving by stuck her head out the window and yelled something that was sexually inappropriate. The wickedness didn’t stop there, no it continued the whole time we were downtown. I have friends all around the country that just can’t believe the wickedness in the Bible Belt, right here in Springfield, MO.  [Read more…]

I’m Not Really Up For This Whole Preaching Thing Right Now

I’m Not Really Up For This Whole Preaching Thing Right Now

Ministry Update April 23, 2017

“Did you guys get one of these tonight?” “What is it?” “It’s a Gospel Tract.” “Do you believe in Jesus?” “Yeah.” “You do? Have you repented and put your trust in Him?” “I’m not really up for this whole preaching thing right now.” Sadly, the young lady that said this, had missed the preaching. Aaron, Joshua, his son, Serenity, Cody and I were just singing hymns to end the rainy night of witnessing downtown. So I really wasn’t preaching to her.  [Read more…]

Good To Be Back Home

Good To Be Back Home

Good To Be Back Home

It’s good to be back home and out witnessing again in downtown Springfield, MO. Aaron and I missed the previous two Fridays and we thank Kelly for coming out both those nights. We were back in our usual witnessing spot and our fellow neighbors didn’t let us down. Several Hail Satan’s were shouted out by people walking by, motorcyclists tried to drown out the preaching and singing with their loud stereos and some people stated that we weren’t witnessing the right way. But we had some encouragers too.  [Read more…]

One, One, Many

Ministry Update January 8, 2017

On Wednesday Aaron and I witnessed at Planned Parenthood. There were several cars there when we got there. One lady leaving the shopping center next door yelled at me while I was bringing a message. She was our one mocker. I really couldn’t hear her very well, but I think she was saying that I was stupid because they don’t perform abortions at Planned Parenthood in Springfield. I told her they do give women the morning after pill and they refer them to St. Louis or Kansas City where abortions are performed. (Planned Parenthood performed abortions in Springfield 25 years ago and they are pushing to start doing them here again. God forbid! May it not be so.).  [Read more…]

No God

No God

No God

Atheists like to say that there is no God even though the Bible says that they are suppressing the truth in unrighteousness because you can look around at creation and know that there is a Creator. More than not, people are really saying No to God. They are saying No God…Will Rule Over My Life!  [Read more…]

Hallelujah Good Time!

Hallelujah Good Time

Hallelujah Good Time!

Ministry Update April 10, 2016

Oh we had a hallelujah good time witnessing in downtown Springfield, MO on Friday night April 8, 2016. I thought later that night that the people going into the bars, the ones searching for drugs or looking for immoral sexual relationships may very well die some day in their sins and go to Hell, but they will get there by going around us, by ignoring God’s pleas through  us, that they repent and believe the Gospel. Whether they receive or reject Jesus, the truth went forth and God was glorified and the whole time, we had a hallelujah good time!  [Read more…]

Antiquing

Antiquing

My wife and I used to go antiquing all the time or as we say in the Ozarks – antiquin “anteken.” I used to collect rock albums and my wife used to collect millafore boxes and picture frames. It was fun when I found an album that I’d tried to find for a long time and I really loved it when I found one that was priced right. The millafore boxes that my wife collected were really hard to find. So it was exciting just to see one, no matter how much they were asking for it, but we’d get really excited if we found what she collected in the price range that we could afford.  [Read more…]

Hymns Are Offensive

Hymns Are Offensive

Hymns Are Offensive

We started last Friday night off like we always do singing hymns. You could tell it was going to be wild when people yelled out of their car windows while we were singing hymns. How crazy is that? We tend to think that anything goes in America anymore and for the most part this is true, but not when it comes to Christianity. Even hymns are offensive.  [Read more…]
