Just The Facts

Just The Facts

The start of the message is going to show my age because I’m going to reference the old TV show Dragnet. I remember watching reruns of the show as a kid in the late 1960’s and Joe Friday saying, “Just the facts ma’am.” My wife remembers this saying too. Even though I did a little research and found out that these words just the facts were never spoken on the show. Evidently the character said a time or two “Give us the facts ma’am”, but never “just the facts.”  [Read more…]

Salvation By The Grace Of God

Sometimes my friends and I get accused of trying to shove our religion down people’s throats. We get accused of this because we do stand on the street corner and call people to repent and to trust Jesus as their Lord and Savior. We believe the Bible. We believe Jesus. We are doing as Jesus commanded us to do – to preach the Gospel to every creature (Mark 16:15).  [Read more…]

Changed Life

False Start

I was a false convert for 33 years. I originally said the sinner’s prayer when I was 11 years old. But I wasn’t really saved until 33 years later, when I was 44. How do I know that I wasn’t really saved when I walked that church aisle on a Sunday night in April 1974, even though I cried real crocodile tears on my way to the front of the church? Because my life was not changed. A saved life is a changed life; and my life had not been changed. I had some type of emotional, religious experience, but I did not encounter the living Christ that night in 1974.  [Read more…]

Jesus Is Lord

Seek and Save the Lost Jesus is Lord Website Pic

One of the verses that I quote when we’re out open-air preaching is Romans 10:9: That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. This is one of my favorite verses in the Bible. It is a mighty powerful verse. Unfortunately, I’m afraid it is one of the most abused and misused verses in the whole Bible.  [Read more…]

Genuine Repentance

Im Sorry

I’m sorry. We say it a lot and we hear it a lot. If you accidentally bump into someone while you are walking or if you step on someone’s foot, most of us will say “I’m sorry.” In fact, the smaller the infraction, the easier it is to say that you are sorry. But what about when we really hurt someone? How easy is to say it and mean it when you are caught telling lies about someone or when you betray a friend? Or what if you cheat on your spouse? What if you accidentally kill someone in a car accident? Would it be easy to say sorry then? Your attorney would tell you not to say that you are sorry because then you would be admitting guilt. Saved By What You Say

January 4, 2012 by dennis@seekandsavethelost.com Leave a Comment

Saved by what you say, is that really all it takes to break through to the other side? A lot of people reduce Christianity down to this: You ask God to forgive you (maybe even while shedding a few tears) while you have an emotional moment. Then that’s it…whala, you are a Christian and you are saved for all eternity. You now have your “get out of Hell free” card and you can go on living your life doing whatever you want to because you’ve been saved. In fact some “preachers” on TV will even suggest that you repeat the sinner’s prayer after them. Once you’ve done that, they say “if you’ve just said this prayer you are now born again.” [Read more…]

Lordship Salvation

October 10, 2011 by dennis@seekandsavethelost.com 2 Comments

I read a book the other day by John MacArthur called Faith Works. Mr. MacArthur describes in the book the term Lordship Salvation. He brought it up because a lot of people talk about Lordship Salvation in negative terms. They claim it is a works based salvation. Mr. MacArthur doesn’t believe this and neither do I. [Read more…]
