Psalm 85:5 states: Will you (God) be angry with us forever? Will you prolong your anger to all generations? Will God be angry forever? I will read Psalm 85:1-5 shortly to show that this is a believer that is asking God these questions. I know people who only have intellectual knowledge of Jesus. They believe that He suffered God’s wrath over sin while Jesus hung on the cross. These people believe that Jesus was beaten beyond recognition, that Jesus suffered, bled, died on the cross and rose from the grave three days later. Because they believe these facts, they also believe they are saved. They believe that they won’t go to Hell when they die, all because they believe these truths about Jesus. Lately during my normal Bible reading, I’ve been reading in the book of Leviticus. Yes, this is one of those books where a lot of people start out strong reading the Bible through Genesis and Exodus, but they get bogged down in Leviticus. This book names several sins and the sacrifices the Israelites were to offer for those sins, to atone for their sins. Friday night I witnessed downtown where I open-air preached and handed out some New Testaments. Had a couple of drive by mockers. One said somethings incoherently, but the other one yelled, “Ah, go home.” To which I just said, “God bless you.” While I was bringing the message, a couple came over and stood near me. After I finished up, I went over and talked to them. They said that they don’t go to any church because they don’t believe in once saved always saved. [Read more…]
Many times when we are out here witnessing at St. Louis and Jefferson and we see someone driving the wrong way down Jefferson. It happened last Friday. Even though there is the way that is right, the right way to go on the one-way street, some people inevitably go the wrong way. They end up going against the traffic. [Read more…]
I know of people who are looking forward to this new year in 2019. Some are hopeful to get away from drugs or alcohol addictions. There were several mockers while I witnessed Christmas Eve in front of Hobby Lobby. One guy mouthed off the whole time he turned the corner at the stoplight. Others mouthed off as they drove by or honked their horn with disapproval. Frankly, this cracked me up a little bit. Wouldn’t you think that Christmas eve, the day before we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ would be the perfect time to tell about His birth, sinless life, sacrificial death and salvation that only He provides? Obviously, not everyone agreed with my thinking. But the mocker that topped them all was the young man with a carload of young people asking me “Do you have marijuana to sell?” [Read more…]
Can a prophet lie? In today’s world of tolerance, can a prophet lie and we just forgive that prophet because we all make mistakes? Do we forgive and forget? I’m asking these questions because I’ve had many unbelievers tell me that they think Jesus was just a good person who said some good things to live by, but they don’t believe in the supernatural things that He did. King Solomon – Bring Me A Sword
The Bible describes King Solomon in 1 Kings 10:23 as follows: So king Solomon exceeded all the kings of the earth for riches and for wisdom. Shortly, I want to relay the story most people think of when we talk about Solomon’s wisdom. It’s the story of two women who both claimed a living baby was their own and the other woman was the mother of the dead baby. Yes, most people focus on Solomon’s wisdom in handling this case. But what strikes me the most is the love of the real mother of the living baby. Not only did she love her son, she loved him with truly sacrificial love. [Read more…]
