Was Last Night a Success?

A sister in Christ asked me to tell about some success stories in witnessing. I have seen Aaron lead people to Christ after street preaching, including a Muslim man, a suicidal woman and others. I’ve seen people crying under conviction while listening to street preaching and I’ve seen people under Holy Ghost conviction after one to one conversations. I’ve even witnessed people being brought to tears from reading Gospel tracts. [Read more…]

Is Open-Air Preaching the Most Effective Method?

I talked to a pastor last month and he wanted to know if open-air preaching is the most effective way to reach people in America. He wasn’t belittling street preaching. This pastor was genuinely questioning and thinking about this as he asked the question out loud. This pastor is a former missionary. He has done open-air preaching himself, but never in America. He has seen people come to salvation right on the spot after hearing the Gospel proclaimed in the open, but again, that wasn’t here in America. His thought was that Americans have already heard the Gospel. So he truly wonders if it is the most effective method to reach Americans. [Read more…]

Open-Air Preaching at Missouri State University December 1 2014

December 6, 2014 by dennis@seekandsavethelost.com Leave a Comment

Rich Hagen and I did open-air preaching at Missouri State University on December 1, 2014. I didn't know that Rich was recording us. A young man came up and talked to Rich while I was bringing a message, so he quit recording during the one to one, which is great. We want students to stop and talk to us. While Rich was preaching, another young man came up to me while I was handing out tracts and he said "you guys have to talk so loudly because your God is dying."

We do speak loudly so more people will hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ. But God is not dying and God's not dead! Jesus died on the cross for guilty sinners like you and me, but he's not in the grave. He is risen. We serve a risen Savior and He's very much alive and He's seated at the right hand of God the Father, in Heaven. Do you know Him? Have you repented and put your faith in Jesus?

Natural Gas Explosion

Natural Gas Explosion Kansas City MO March 2013

Recently four different professing Christians came up to us after open-air preaching on the square in downtown Springfield, MO and told us that we were doing it wrong. They all said that we weren’t loving people to Jesus. They all said that we were pushing people farther away from God. A week before that an agnostic at Missouri State University told me the same thing. He said that what I was doing was wrong. (Does anyone else see the irony of a non-believer telling a believer that he’s witnessing for Jesus incorrectly?) [Read more…]

(Greg and Houston are pictured in the first picture)Greg Marlin and I are part of Born of Him Ministries and we witnessed at the Springfield high school graduations on May 9th and 10th. We were greatly blessed to have a young man named Houston Kelly join us when we went out on the 9th. It rained for three hours straight that night. Houston is a tracting machine. He gave out hundreds and hundreds of tracts, in the pouring rain! He also broke the sound barrier by reading blessed Scripture a couple of different times. [Read more…]

Someone called the police and a police officer showed up when I was on the box. The officer talked to Greg and Brad while I was preaching. He said that we could legally preach there with amplification. [Read more…]

(Open-air preaching in downtown Springfield, MO. The guitar player and the donkey were not with me, they just jumped up beside me when I started reading Romans 1. The guitar player was a supporter and the donkey was a mocker. After this, Brad (in the second picture) and I walked a block north to support Aaron, another street preacher.)

Recently Brad with Repent and Turn Ministries and I went witnessing in downtown Springfield, MO. We handed out tracts, got into one to ones and did a little open-air preaching. Then after that we moved closer to where another friend – Aaron was open-air preaching. Brad had his cross and I handed out tracts and we were across the street from Aaron as he preached. I Used to be a Christian

Atheist fish

“I used to be a Christian.” Sometimes we hear these words when we are out witnessing: when we hand out Gospel tracts, do one to one witnessing and open-air preaching. People will come up to us and tell us that we believe in a fairy tale and that we should leave people alone. [Read more…]

Born of Him Ministries

November 29, 2011 by dennis@seekandsavethelost.com 2 Comments

Through reading the Bible, God convicted me that I wasn’t saved. This happened in 2007. Then God convicted me in the first part of 2009 that I needed to share my faith with others. Carla MacLachlan (author of Parenting Moment by Moment) loaned me the first two seasons of Way of the Master. After watching the second show of season 1, I bought some tracts. I started leaving those with tips to waitresses. Then God convicted me to hand them to people directly. Shortly, after that He convicted me to open my mouth and talk to people. [Read more…]

Famous People

February 10, 2011 by dennis@seekandsavethelost.com Leave a Comment

Do you know any famous people? Have you ever met someone famous? A movie star, rock star or professional athlete? I met Amira at Super Bowl 45. She is a pop/hip hop artist. I was there with over 100 over evangelist from around the country. We were participating in the Super Bowl Outreach. We did some open-air preaching and later I was handing out tracts next to three people who were handing out material about a singer.

Every now and then someone would come running over and have their picture taken with the girl that was helping hand out advertisements for the singer. It finally dawned on me that she was the girl in ad! She was promoting her song on itunes Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. So I had my picture taken with her. She’s holding my gospel tract and I’m holding her advertisement for her new single.
