Why Do You Come Here?

Why Do You Come Here?

Ministry Update November 11, 2018

I had some interesting interactions at Missouri State University on Wednesday. I handed out tracts while walking to the witnessing spot. One lady took a tract, but when she realized what it was, she handed it back and said I go to church. Personally, I wouldn’t respond that way. I’d say “I’m a believer too” or “I’m a follower of Jesus.” But mainly I take tracts when offered them. I like to see what other people are handing out. You never know, I may find a tract that I like even better than what I’m currently using. This was my first interaction and the last one ended with “Why do you come here?”  [Read more…]

Pleasant Conversation

Ministry Update October 21, 2018

Many times we encounter mockers while street witnessing. For example, on Wednesday at MSU while I was bringing a message, Quinn the skateboarding atheist skated by and shook his fist at me. I just pleaded with the students to not continue shaking their fists at God. That they need to repent and trust Jesus. We also encounter mockers downtown (like Conner and I had Friday night). But after open-air preaching at MSU, I walked over to a student who listened to the end of the message. I handed him a tract and he gladly received it. Then we ended up having a pleasant conversation for the next 15 to 20 minutes.  [Read more…]

Sin Means To Miss The Mark

Ministry Update September 9, 2018

On Wednesday at Missouri State University I couldn’t get a permit for my usual spot. So I open-air preached at Strong Hall. I like Strong Hall, it was the first spot I witnessed at when I started witnessing at MSU around seven years ago. Toward the end of the message, a young woman stopped to listen and then she came over to talk afterwards. She studies Hebrew at the university and she said the Greek word for sin means to miss the mark. To that I said a hearty Amen!   [Read more…]

Hell’s Best Kept Secret CD’s

Ministry Update September 2, 2018

On Wednesday, ten of us handed out 1,240 Hell’s Best Kept Secret CD’s at Missouri State University during the lunch hour. Praise God, that He held the rain off. On Monday, the weather app was calling for 80% chance of rain and possibility of hail for Wednesday morning. But the sky was clear for the first 45 minutes and then it only sprinkled a little after that.  [Read more…]

Need To Sugarcoat It

Ministry Update August 26, 2018

Since classes started at Missouri State University this last week, I witnessed there during the lunch hour on Wednesday. Toward the end of the message a student came over to talk to me. He had listened to a good portion of the open-air preaching. He walked up and said, “I like what you do here, but you don’t want to scare off the new students. You need to sugarcoat it.” I didn’t address his concern, we just talked a little bit. Then all of he sudden he laughed and said, “I guess you really can’t sugarcoat it, can you?” Then I told him that I was going to ask him where Jesus sugarcoated it and that I’d be happy to do the same. The best part was he figured out that you really can’t sugarcoat the Gospel and he came to this conclusion without me even addressing it.  [Read more…]

Deathbed Confession

Deathbed Confession

Ministry Update August 19, 2018

Rich, Kelly, Steven and I witnessed downtown Friday night and it was a night with many mockers. Rich started us off. He had a few people revving their cars, scooters and motorcycles revving their engines as well as people yelling out of their cars. But he also had a guy that had an amplifier that was in one of the loft apartments across the parking lot in front of us. The guy kept repeating how he was gay (but he used a derogatory term for homosexuals) and kept mocking through probably the last half of Rich’s message. This guy said that he’s going to live his alternative lifestyle and then plans on a deathbed confession at the very end.  [Read more…]

Spiritual Battle

Ministry Update July 29, 2018

My fellow Christians, are you aware of the spiritual battle going on right here in Springfield, MO? Yes, we live in the Bible Belt, but that doesn’t mean everyone is saved, not even every professing Christian. Not only that, but Satan is hard at work luring young people farther and father into sin. There is a real battle going on. Are you aware of it? Are you in the battle?  [Read more…]

Conversations Before During And After

Ministry Update June 24, 2018

Rich and I were the first ones to the witnessing spot Friday night and we talked to a couple of guys. The one young man was from Bolivar and I think his friend lives in Springfield. We gave them tracts and they both said they are Christians. The guy from Springfield wanted to know how effective open-air preaching is so we talked about obedience to God and the results are up to Him. Then a lady named Tracy said that she was looking for Allen. I told her that he’s probably on the square witnessing. She couldn’t find him, so she came back and witnessed with us until Allen found her later on. This was just the beginning of the night, but we had conversations before during and after open-air preaching.  [Read more…]

Is That A Bible In Your Hands?

Is That A Bible In Your Hands?

Ministry Update June 15, 2018

Pastor Joshua and I had a great time witnessing Friday night. It was not a circus-like atmosphere like the week before. In fact it was a pretty quiet night. Oh we had several mockers, but nothing major. One guy yelled at Pastor Joshua to shut up and then black smoke billowed out of the guy’s tailpipe as he drove away. A woman walking yelled at him and a couple of drivers yelled at me. But one car pulled up while I was bringing a message and it was a full carload of people. The driver leaned over and yelled, “Is that a Bible in your hands?”  [Read more…]

Blessed More Ways Than One

Ministry Update June 10, 2018

Friday night it was a real blessing to have Rich join Kelly, Conner and I witnessing downtown. Rich and his family have been living in China for nearly three years and they just got into Springfield on Wednesday and I’m sure he was still jet lagged. Now that I think of it, Rich witnessed with Kelly and I at MSU just a few days before he left for China in August 2015. So he came back and joined us the same he joined us before he left. But Friday night we were blessed more ways than one.  [Read more…]
