Long Way From Home

Ministry Update January 23, 2023

Before Michael and I walked around downtown Friday night and handed out Gospel tracts, he prayed a really nice prayer and he asked God to bless any conversations that we get into. We received a lot of no’s when offering tracts, but we had a few takers. There were a couple of guys standing in front of a bar and I handed both of them tracts. As they thumbed through them, I told them they were Gospel tracts that tell you about Jesus. Then I asked them if they know who Jesus is and surprisingly they both shook their heads no. They were a long way from home since they are from Bangladesh, but we were still surprised that they didn’t know who Jesus is.

I talked to them about how Jesus was born of the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary and why He came to this earth that He created. Then I asked them if they consider themselves to be good. Adeem’s friend said yes, but Adeem said that he was probably more good than bad. I explained how God is perfect and none of us are perfect. That’s why we need a Savior, since we’ve all sinned and fallen short of God’s glory. They both listened graciously while I shared the Gospel with them.

Do You Have A Bible?

Afterwards, I asked them if they have Bibles and both of them said they didn’t. So then I asked if they’d read it if I gave them one. Adeem’s friend said no, but Adeem thought for a second and then said that he would read it. I handed him a New Testament, pointed to the sky and told him that this book is unlike any other book he’s ever read. It is inspired by the Creator God in Heaven and that if he will ask God to reveal His truth to Adeem, that I believe God will do so. I also encouraged Adeem to read the Bible to see if what we were telling him was the truth. Both guys shook our hands and thanked us for talking with them. May God convict and convert Adeem and his friend. Michael and I handed out some more tracts before the night was over. But this encounter is what we pray for and hope God will bless us with. We don’t always get the opportunity to clearly present the Gospel while witnessing, but it’s always encouraging and a real blessing when we get to do so.

Blessed Night

Kelly Open-Air Preaching

Blessed Night

Ministry Update June 21, 2020

Kelly and I had a blessed night of witnessing. It started off slow, but picked up later on. A college student named Tia took a Gospel tract from us as she walked her dog. Kelly asked about her dog and that led to a conversation. The young lady says that she is a Christian. We asked her to read the tract and pass it on to someone else and she said that she would. I brought the first message and had mocker right of the bat. He walked out of a convenience store heading the other direction, but turned around and cussed real loud. A couple of cowboys were walking near us and the first one said, “just ignore him” to which I said “Amen” and the second one stopped and shook my hand. [Read more…]

Where Did Your Original Thoughts Come From?

Where Did Your Original Thoughts Come From?

Where did your original thoughts come from? This is the question the young man asked on Wed. at MSU. After going around in circles many times, I finally figured out that the point he was trying to make is that according to his worldview, God causes evil, then it’s God’s fault when the young man does something wrong (when he sins). He said this is unfair. I told him that the potter has the right to make one vessel for honor and another vessel for dishonor (Romans 9:21). [Read more…]

I Will Own It Like A Boss!

I Will Own It Like A Boss!
Ministry Update September 29, 2019

The week before, I witnessed at MU with some friends in Columbia, MO and we had some really obnoxious mockers. So frankly, I was looking forward to witnessing at my usual spot at MSU this week. Yes, I typically have mockers, but not as bad as at MU. Well the students and a worker were wound up this week. I was trying to get the students to see that we have all sinned against God and that Jesus is the only Savior, so I quoted the 10 Commandments. Right after that, I said, “What will you do with your sins on Judgment Day?” A student was already mocking as he walked by, acting like he was kicking dirt at me and other gestures and loudly said, “I will own it like a boss!” [Read more…]

Woman Yelling “Hail The Goddess”

Hail The Goddess

Ministry Update June 30, 2019

Kelly and I witnessed downtown Friday night and it was pretty quiet most of the night. We both brought messages, but Kelly brought out the mockers. He preached about Hell, how Jesus talked about Hell more than anyone else in the Bible and sadly how many churches don’t preach on Hell. Kelly was about half way through his message when two women walked by and one turned around and yelled, “Hail the goddess!” He warned her that Jesus is the only Savior, but she just kept mouthing off as she continued walking away. About that time, I was offering New Testaments to a couple with a young son, but they said they didn’t need one. Then the woman thanked us for being out here and sharing the Gospel.

Mocker Asking Kelly If He’s Ever Bought Holy Water

A little later a couple of guys were walking by across the street and the one yelled, “Have you ever bought any Holy Water?” Kelly told him no. Then the guy laughed and mouthed off something we couldn’t hear. Kelly told him that he shouldn’t be mocking someone preaching the Gospel and encouraged the guy to come over and get a Bible. The guy said he had one already in his backpack, to which Kelly replied, “If you were really a believer, you would not mock a man of God.” We handed out a dozen New Testaments and some Gospel tracts. One young man stopped his bicycle when I offered him a New Testament and he promptly put it in a holder that he had attached to his bike. May God bless the messages, the New Testaments and the Gospel tracts.

What Day Was Jesus Born On?

Ministry Update May 19 2019

Pastor Joshua, Kelly, Conner and I had a great time witnessing Friday night where there were some interesting conversations. All four of us did open-air preaching. Gospel tracts and New Testaments were handed out. We always have a great time visiting. But the short conversation that ended the night was a guy that was concerned about the actual day of Jesus’ birth. He kept asking us, “What day was Jesus born on?” [Read more…]

Unhitch

Unhitched

Unhitch

In May of this year, Andy Stanley suggested that Christians need to unhitch the Old Testament from their faith. Now recently in an interview, Andy Stanley tried to clarify what he meant by that statement. Unfortunately, his clarification is even worse than the original statement (and until I heard this, I didn’t think it was possible for Andy Stanley to make it worse).  [Read more…]

Young Man Wouldn’t Let Go Of The New Testament

Ministry Update April 1, 2018

Friday night before Thomas joined me witnessing downtown, I handed out several tracts. A group of guys all took tracts. One of the guys stopped and thanked me for being out there. He told me that his mom has been after him to get right with God. I told him that his mom is telling right, he needs to get right with God. Then surprisingly, the guy admitted to me that he is a drunk (his own words). I exhorted him that he needs to repent and trust Jesus (Galatians 5:21).  [Read more…]

Gospel Preaching Leads To Gospel Conversations

Gospel Preaching Leads To Gospel Conversations

Ministry Update January 28, 2018

Gospel preaching leads to Gospel conversations. An evangelist friend from Georgia says this and it is true. Open-air preaching leads to spiritual conversations, even if people come over to tell you that what you are doing is wrong or that you are witnessing the wrong way. But sometimes it is the spark that causes conversations to get started that otherwise may never happen. Open-air preaching is biblical, it is necessary in our secular society and it causes people to stop and talk to you.  [Read more…]

Consistently Wrong

Ministry Update April 2, 2017

No matter what you think about Aaron and myself, I guess you can say at least we are consistent. According to most people that approached us this week, we are consistently wrong. We witness the wrong way at MSU and we witness the wrong way downtown. We constantly witness the wrong way, but at least we are consistently wrong.  [Read more…]
