Getting Away With It

Several years ago I heard that one half of all murderers in America are never caught. One half! This is a mind-blowing statistic. How can one half of all murders go unsolved? I just double checked and according to a CBS news article dated June 29, 2022, approximately half of all murders go unsolved. There’s more violent crime today and less police officers. So criminals are getting away with it, even getting away with murder.

But are they really getting away with it? Even if a murderer kills someone when the murderer is in their teens and they live to be 90 years old, they may think they’ve gotten away with murder for over 70 years. But they really haven’t gotten away with it. There is judgment to come. It’s appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment (Hebrews 9:27). [Read more…]

I’m Good

My brother who lives out of state, recently came to visit me. He stayed at my house for a few days and we had great time visiting. Being a good host, I frequently asked my brother if he wanted some tea, or soda or water to drink and most of the time he’d reply, “I’m good.” He’d say I’m good. Do you know that you are a sinner? We have all sinned and fallen short of God’s glory (Romans 3:23). You and I are sinners. We have all rebelled against God. Each and every one of us at one time or another has said No to God and Yes to our ourselves. (Unbelievers say No to God all the time because they always do exactly what they want to do). Jeffrey Epstein hung himself while waiting for trial on sex trafficking charges. His victims, young girls who were in their teens when he raped them and forced them to have sex with other rich and powerful men were robbed of justice. It’s not fair! Is Everyone Really Awesome?

Kelly, Conner and I witnessed downtown Friday night and the couple with signs were back. Just like before, they held signs that read, “You Are Wonderful” and “You Are Awesome.” Then on the ground between them, they had a sign that said, “Acceptance Not Judgment.” Since that sign was obviously directed toward us, I wonder if that means we aren’t awesome after all? As people walked past, the couple yelled, “You Are Wonderful” and “You Are Awesome.” Guess what? Most people that they said this to, repeated the same words back to the couple.
