Mean Preachers The Day Before

Ministry Update April 15, 2018

It was a real blessing to have Brian join me at MSU on Wednesday. Brian handed tracts while I brought a message that was a little more confrontational than normal, challenging atheists about their illogical worldview. I wasn’t nasty about it; I merely challenged them to look at what they believe and look at the world around us. It was disappointing that Quinn who mocked me the week before while I was exhorting Christians, chose not to show up when I was challenging atheists. He was aware of what I was going to do, so I assume that he really didn’t want to be confronted about his atheism. After my message, I handed out tracts while Brian brought a message about how there really are no atheists (Romans 1:19-23).  [Read more…]

Jesus Came To Save His People From Their Sins

Jesus Came To Save His People From Their Sins

Ministry Update December 24, 2017

I tried something different on Wednesday since there weren’t any classes in session at MSU because of Christmas break.  I held a sign at the corner of Glenstone and Battlefield during the lunch hour. The sign states: Jesus Came To Save His People From Their Sins. Are You One Of His People? Have You Repented And Surrendered Your Life To Jesus? It was only five days until Christmas. Most people were probably thinking about shopping or lunch. Maybe some were even thinking about Christmas – about the birth of Jesus. So, was it wrong to bring up the fact that Jesus came to save His people from their sins?  [Read more…]

I Like Jesus

I Like Jesus

Ministry Update October 29, 2017

Friday night while I was bringing a message, Conner handed out tracts. He offered tracts to a group of young men and they refused the tracts, but one of them said “I like Jesus.” I like Jesus, just like saying I like the color red. No real emotion or anything. Have we become a society so used to social media that we just break everything down to what we like or dis-like? I didn’t hear the young man, but I suspect it wasn’t just like as in liking a Facebook post. I think the young man was indicating that he likes Jesus. That Jesus is alright by him.  [Read more…]

Welcome

Those of you who are new to Missouri State University, welcome. To the students who are returning, welcome back. I’m glad to see you here today and I sincerely welcome you to MSU. I attended here 36 years ago and I welcome you to this same university that I graduated from back in the mid 80’s. So welcome to the start of the 2017 Fall semester at MSU.  [Read more…]

Welcome Students

Ministry Update August 27, 2017

On Wednesday August 23, 2017 I witnessed at MSU during the lunch hour. It was the students first week of school for the fall semester. It was a pleasure to say “welcome students” to those new to Missouri State University and to welcome back the returning students. I tied the message to the parable Jesus told about the king inviting people to the wedding in Matthew 22:1-14 and how many rejected the invitation. My plea was that they wouldn’t reject the invitation to repent and surrender their lives to Jesus Christ the Lord.

Double Header

Ministry Update 8/20/17

Friday night it was a real blessing to have Kelly and his son Steven join me downtown. We started off at the corner of St. Louis and Jefferson. There’s a nice little park like area there that my wife Polly calls the park, so I may refer to this new spot as the park in the future. We started off here and then later moved to South and Walnut. That’s why I’m calling this update double header. Just like when we used to play back to back softball games (called a double header) when I was younger, we had two different preaching spots Friday night. We had a great time witnessing.  [Read more…]

Wickedness In The Bible Belt

Ministry Update April 30, 2017

Friday night Aaron, Serenity and I knew it was going to be a wild night witnessing downtown Springfield, MO. Before we even started singing hymns, a woman in the front passenger seat of a car driving by stuck her head out the window and yelled something that was sexually inappropriate. The wickedness didn’t stop there, no it continued the whole time we were downtown. I have friends all around the country that just can’t believe the wickedness in the Bible Belt, right here in Springfield, MO.  [Read more…]

Consistently Wrong

Ministry Update April 2, 2017

No matter what you think about Aaron and myself, I guess you can say at least we are consistent. According to most people that approached us this week, we are consistently wrong. We witness the wrong way at MSU and we witness the wrong way downtown. We constantly witness the wrong way, but at least we are consistently wrong.  [Read more…]

Stop Giving Christians A Bad Name

Last week a student at MSU yelled as he walked by me “Stop giving Christians a bad name.” I don’t know if the young man is a professing Christian or maybe an atheist that grew up in a Christian home, but I’ve been thinking about his comment. I wonder if he really knows what giving Christians a bad name really looks like?  [Read more…]

How Dare You!

Ministry Update September 11, 2016

How dare you say that I need to repent and put my faith in Jesus. I had my back to the young man at MSU because I was recording part of Aaron’s sermon. The young man had earlier told me that we were hurting our own cause. I said why is that and he replied because Jesus always developed a personal relationship with people.  [Read more…]
