Mockers And Scoffers

Mockers and Scoffers

We frequently run into mockers and scoffers while we are out witnessing. Last week, there was a guy dancing around inappropriately while I was open-air preaching. Others mocked as they walked by. We tried to hand a Gospel tract to one guy and he refused and said, “I’m trying to give that up.” Yes some people think they are funny and others are down-right rude or get fighting mad over hearing about Jesus Christ in public. I’m Good

I’m Good

My brother who lives out of state, recently came to visit me. He stayed at my house for a few days and we had great time visiting. Being a good host, I frequently asked my brother if he wanted some tea, or soda or water to drink and most of the time he’d reply, “I’m good.” He’d say I’m good. Then I would politely tell my brother that none of us are good. Jesus said there’s none good, but God (Mark 10:18). [Read more…]

Dying Well

Dying Well

Tonight we are out here to talk about a subject that no one wants to talk about, but the subject is something that happens to all of us. We are out here tonight to talk about dying. Not just about dying, but about dying well. We are all going to die one day. You can’t cheat death. It happens to all of us, even though we don’t like to talk about it. But since we are all going to die one day, it is important to talk about. Yes, we need to talk about dying and more importantly, we need to talk about dying well. [Read more…]

Do You Really Want God To Judge You?

Do You Really Want God To Judge You?

The bible verse that’s thrown in an open-air preacher’s face more than any other is Matthew 7:1 – Judge not that ye be not judged. This may very well be the most overused and misquoted verse in the Bible. If you read further past verse one, you will see that Jesus is saying don’t be a hypocrite. I shouldn’t preach against adultery if I’m an adulterer. Jesus isn’t saying we shouldn’t judge (in fact He tells us to judge with righteous judgment – John 7:24). Along these same lines, we frequently hear people shout “Only God can judge me.” [Read more…]

You Don’t Have A Uterus

You Don’t Have A Uterus
Ministry Update March 1, 2020

While open-air preaching against abortion in downtown Springfield, Missouri Friday night, a woman walking with two guys across the street from me shouted, “You don’t have a uterus.” If I had been thinking quicker, I should have replied, “How do you know I don’t identify as a woman?” But instead, I told her that you don’t need a uterus to know that killing a baby in the womb is wrong. Bring It On

Bring It On

Recently a student at Missouri State University said, “God is not real.” There’s nothing new or special about that, unfortunately, students routinely say this. I replied back that only a fool says there is no God (Psalm 14:1). I also pointed out to the young man that one day he will stand before this very God that he says isn’t real. The student then turned around, flipped me off and yelled, “Bring it on!.” [Read more…]

Christ Is A Great Savior

Christ Is A Great Savior

John Newton, the man who wrote the wonderful hymn Amazing Grace, also stated: Although my memory’s fading, I remember two things very clearly: I am a great sinner and Christ is a great Savior. I agree wholeheartedly with this statement. I am a great sinner that has been saved by the grace of God and my salvation is found in Jesus alone. Christ is a great Savior and He is my Lord and Savior.  [Read more…]

Tender Mercy Of Our God

Tender Mercy Of Our God

The other day I was reading the Bible, specifically Luke 1 and the words “tender mercy of our God” jumped out at me. The tender mercy of our God. These are extremely wonderful, beautiful words. Our God is so merciful that tonight I want to talk about the tender mercy of our God.  [Read more…]

Have You Believed in Vain?

Falling into Hell
There were some professing Christians out here last week giving out free hugs. They were no different from the atheists that do the same thing downtown; they also hold up signs that say free hugs. If you received a hug last week, how would you know that it was from a professing Christian or a professing atheist? You wouldn’t. There is no difference. A free hug sign is a free hug sign and a hug from a stranger is a hug from a stranger – Christian or atheist.  [Read more…]

Broken or Crushed?

In Luke 20:17-18, Jesus is talking about the religious leaders at that time. The verses state, And he beheld them, and said, What is this then that is written, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner? Whosoever shall fall upon that stone shall be broken; but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder. [Read more…]
