Gambling With Your Life

Gambling With Your Life

Over one hundred fifty thousand people are here at Churchill Downs for The Kentucky Derby to watch one of the greatest races in sports. Yes, people come here to watch the horses run, but they also come here to get drunk, lust, covet and gamble. For those who don’t know any better, all of these things are a sin. Not merely watching a horse race, but the getting drunk, lusting, coveting and gambling are all sins. [Read more…]

I Love Jesus

Another Kentucky Derby Outreach and another rainy Kentucky Derby. We were blessed to have 35 evangelists around the country participate in Sports Fan Outreach International’s outreach this year. We heard the usual “God is love,” “God loves everybody,” again this year. For some reason it seemed like there were a lot of people this year that said I love Jesus.  [Read more…]

Street Evangelists Really Are Crazy

While driving eight hours to the Kentucky Derby Outreach last Thursday (including an extra hour out of the way to avoid the local flooding) I had a lot of time to think about the outreach. I thought about the long drive to the camp and I was looking forward to fellowshipping with the other 24 evangelists from around the country and the teaching that night from Dr. Gentry from Southern Seminary. But I also couldn’t help but think about how long the drive was to Louisville, how the weather forecast was calling for rain both Friday and Saturday and remembering all the mockers and scoffers from The Derby the last few years and I realized that I really am crazy and all street evangelists really are crazy.  [Read more…]

God Is Not Gay!

God Is Not Gay

God Is Not Gay

While witnessing at the Kentucky Derby last weekend, I heard people yell out “God is gay” more than I’ve ever heard before. It’s blasphemous to say such evil things. God is not dead. God is not gay. God is not pro-gay. God is not on the LGBT side of this current immoral revolution sweeping across America.  [Read more…]

Kentucky Derby Outreach 2016

It was a real blessing to witness at the Kentucky Derby Outreach through Sports Fan Outreach International. Twenty four of us from around the country had a wonderful time of fellowship and laboring for God’s kingdom. Twelve hour days of witnessing were long and the nights seemed short, but it was an amazing time of sharing the Gospel through tracts, one to one witnessing, a hand held sign, prayer stand and open-air preaching.  [Read more…]

What Race Are You Running

What Race Are You Running?

We understand that you are here to see the horse races, especially the grand daddy race tomorrow – the Kentucky Derby. But what race are you running? The rat race? The keeping up with the Joneses race? A religious race? The fast track race at work? What race are you running?  [Read more…]

Three of us from Springfield and four evangelists from Rolla, Missouri went to the Kentucky Derby Outreach 2015 the first weekend in May and we had a great time lifting up the name of Jesus at the derby. There were 31 evangelists there from all around the country who participated in the Sports Fan Outreach International event and it was a real joy and blessing to proclaim the glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 4:6) with our fellow laborers.  [Read more…]

It was a real honor to street witness outside Churchill Downs last weekend along with 30 other evangelists from around the country. There were over 170,000 people there in attendance for the Kentucky Derby. In addition to street preaching and talking to people one to one, we also handed out tracts. Even though many tracts were handed out, unfortunately the majority of people said “no thank you.”  [Read more…]

It was a real privilege and an honor to witness at the Kentucky Derby this year. 21 men and one lady came from around the country to an outreach put together by Bill Adams with Sports Fan Outreach International. It was a wonderful outreach and the Holy Spirit really moved at this event. We arrived Thursday night May 1, 2014 and we were blessed to hear from Reverend Al Baker, a Presbyterian church planter from Alabama and also from Dr. Hershael York with Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. The teaching was fantastic. (By the way Rev. Baker joined us open-air preaching on Friday and Saturday and Dr. York told us that a deacon from his church was collegiate athlete many years ago and that the deacon had been saved in college because of an open-air preacher). And They’re Off

The bell rings. No you are not late for class. The last horse has been loaded in the chute and the bell rings. The doors fly open and the announcer excitedly says “And they’re off.” Today is the big day. It’s time for The Kentucky Derby. I still remember watching horse racing on TV when I was a kid. My dad loves horse races and I grew up being fascinated by them. I loved the power, the speed, the jockeying back and forth. But I couldn’t tell who was in front. I had to depend on the announcer to know which horse was in which position. [Read more…]
