You Are The Man!

You Are The Man!

Have you ever had someone tell you, “You are the man!” Or “You’re the man?” Obviously, people mean this is in a good way. Maybe you’ve done a really good job at work or your department has performed really well and people at work will tell you, “You are the man!” Or maybe you were really good at sports in high school and people called you “the man or the woman”. Again, we typically hear this as being a good thing. But did you know the Bible talks about a person being the man and it’s not in a good way?

The Bible tells us that at the time when kings typically went out to war, King David stayed in his palace. One day he was walking on the roof top, looking around and he saw a beautiful woman taking a bath. He told one of his servants to fetch her and they did. Then David committed adultery with the woman. The woman’s name was Bathsheba and she was married to Uriah the Hittite. Well, Bathsheba became pregnant from their sexual encounter, so David thought no problem, he’d just have her husband brought back home from the war. Uriah would sleep with his wife and the problem would be solved. [Read more…]

Great To Back Out Witnessing Again

Great To Be Back Out Witnessing Again
Ministry Update For May 13, 2022

Due to health issues, I missed witnessing for the last nine months. So it was great to back out witnessing again Friday night. I brought a message about You Are The Man while Brad and Keven handed out tracts. We had a few silent mockers drive by, but none of them yelled anything. But one girl was walking toward us until she turned the corner. She yelled, “Shut up. Go home. No one’s listening”. Then as she started to walk into a building she turned around and flipped us off. Brad waved to her and I just ignored her.

After I brought the message, Brad and I crossed the street and handed out tracts while Keven and Carl played music and Carl sang hymns. Carl’s friend Rachelle also joined us. After we had handed out tracts for a while Brad came over and said, “Have you noticed that more women are taking tracts tonight than men?” I had noticed the same thing. Every night street witnessing is different.

Brad not only handed out tracts, but he also offered to pray with people. Two young men asked him to pray for them and another young man asked for prayer for guidance. Not only was it great to be back out witnessing again, but I had also missed fellowshipping with other evangelists. We had a great time visiting with each other and I appreciated Carl’s love for the Lord. In between songs, a lot of times he’d praise the Lord and also exhort people with the fact that Jesus is the only Savior while quoting John 14:6. I’m looking forward to witnessing with these fellow evangelists and hopefully more friends will join us too.

These updates are provided to encourage Christians to share their faith in Jesus with others.

I’m Good

I’m Good

My brother who lives out of state, recently came to visit me. He stayed at my house for a few days and we had great time visiting. Being a good host, I frequently asked my brother if he wanted some tea, or soda or water to drink and most of the time he’d reply, “I’m good.” He’d say I’m good. Then I would politely tell my brother that none of us are good. Jesus said there’s none good, but God (Mark 10:18). [Read more…]

Not Many Fish

Ministry Update August 1, 2021

We had five fishermen Friday night, but not many “fish”. Yes, we are fishers of men and we were excited to be downtown witnessing even in the extremely hot weather, but there just  weren’t many people milling around. Robert and Carl came out with Keven and Pastor Mike and I were there too. We handed out tracts for about an hour and I brought a short message at that first corner. One guy flipped me off the whole time he turned the corner in front of us, but that was about it as far as mockers go. A couple of women listened for a while from across the street.

After I brought a message, we all headed to the square. It turned out Keven and his group were going to visit a friend, so Pastor Mike and I stayed near the square and handed out tracts. One young man asked me if I was getting ready to preach and I told him that I already brought a message. He asked what Scripture I used, so I told him that it was about the Pharisee and tax collector in Luke 18:10-14. While we were talking to the young man, Brian a state representative from Branson, MO came up and shook our hands. He thanked us for witnessing downtown and told us that he goes out witnessing on the square in Branson with some people from his church. That was encouraging to hear too. Pastor Mike and I had some takers and some rejectors of Gospel tracts.

Do You Wanna Tell Me About It?

On the way to see their friend, Keven and his guys handed out tracts too. Here’s what Keven said happened before they got to their friend’s apartment: “After you guys left, the 3 of us were walking along South St. & Walnut and I handed a tract to some young guy, who said, what’s this? “Jesus, the gospel” I say and he said “Do you wanna tell me about it?” And it was on. He was a bit drunk, and admitted it, but was quiet & respectful and actually asked questions that made sense.  Such as, if Jesus died for the sins of the world, are we not automatically just forgiven? No, you have to ask for it. Then Carl gave a bit of his testimony.  Then the guy’s two friends sort of dragged him off”. We praise God for this encounter. May God save the young man and may the Lord bless the tracts that were handed out.

(These updates are provided to encourage Christians to share the Gospel with others. Hand out Gospel tracts, tell others how God saved you when you repented of your sins and put your faith in Jesus)

What Are Christians To Do?

What Are Christians To Do?

What are Christians to do at a time like this? It all seems so hopeless. Our country is running amuck. Those in power call evil good and good evil. Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! (Isaiah 5:20). Oh the sky is falling! What are Christians to do? What are we to do during these dark times? [Read more…]

Atrocious Act

Atrocious Act

On New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2020, a 29 year-old killed his girlfriend and her 13 year-old son. The man also tried to kill the woman’s two daughters, ages 7 and 14, but they both survived the attack. This happened right here in Springfield, Missouri. This was a shocking crime in Southwest Missouri. But this horrendous crime pales in comparison to King Herod killing 2,000 boys that were 2 years old and younger in Bethlehem. Herod ordered the killings because he was trying to kill baby Jesus. Obviously, King Herod failed in his attempt, but he did succeed in his atrocious act of killing 2,000 precious little boys. The Compassion Of Jesus

The Compassion Of Jesus

We just celebrated Thanksgiving. Who or what did you thank? I’ve heard people thank “mother earth” or trees or other things like these. But who did you thank on Thanksgiving? Did you thank God? The one true God of the Bible? I am very thankful to God for my wife, family, friends, home, vehicles, job and so much more and I thank my Heavenly Father for these things. I also especially thank God for the compassion of Jesus. Jesus was very compassionate when He walked this earth 2,000 years ago. And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him (Jesus), saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.  And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. [Read more…]

Judge Yourselves Unworthy

Judge Yourselves Unworthy

The Apostle Paul went to Antioch in Pisidia and shared the Gospel with the Jews in the Synagogue. After he had done so, the Jews there rejected the salvation that is found in Jesus Christ alone and Paul says to them: “You judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life.” Strong words from the apostle. The Jews in Antioch in Pisidia had judged themselves unworthy of everlasting life. [Read more…]

Free And Costly

Free And Costly At The Same Time

How can something be free and costly at the same time? I’m glad you asked. Salvation through Jesus Christ is both costly and free. Salvation is the free gift from God. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast (Ephesians 2:8-9). For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 6:23). Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior (Titus 3:5-6). Savior Of The World

October 28, 2020 by dennis@seekandsavethelost.com 2 Comments

Savior Of The World

I love reading the Bible and the other day I was reading John 4 about Jesus and the woman at the well. It’s a great story, but what really jumped out at me was the people of Sychar called Jesus the Savior of the world. Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world and there is no other. The Lord Jesus is the King of kings and the Lord of lords and He is the only Savior of the world.

Acts 12:4 states: Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 6:23). And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent (John 17:3). [Read more…]
