My wife and I witnessed downtown Friday night and we had a very pleasant night. We handed out New Testaments to start with. A couple of young girls walked by us and said they didn’t need them, but the one girl said you should walk around and talk to people. I looked at my wife and she thought it was a good idea. She asked me what I thought. My first thought was I have to “protect the corner where I preach.” But I told her that I wouldn’t mind walking around afterwards. [Read more…]
What Would Jesus Do (WWJD) was a popular phrase back in the 1990s. Many people wore WWJD bracelets back then. I did a little research and found that Charles Spurgeon used this phrase in a sermon in 1891 and he attributed it Thomas a Kempis who lived in the 1400s! So, the phrase What Would Jesus Do? is not new. But instead of focusing on what would Jesus do, how about we concentrate on what Jesus said? What He’s already told us to do? [Read more…]
Friday night Peter, Justin, Jimmy and his kids, Margaret, Serenity, Allen, Aaron and I started the night off singing hymns. I noticed the guy across the street watching and listening. After we finished singing and I was getting ready to bring a message, the guy came over and started talking directly to Jimmy’s kids. Trying to get them to not believe in Jesus. Gabriel the oldest son told the man that he’s a Christian (and I think his brother is saved too) so the man looked at the younger two and said something like “there’s still hope you two.” I turned on my amplifier and told Satan’s tool to walk on. The Gift Of God
The greatest gift ever given was Jesus Christ. God sent His only Son to suffer, bleed and die on a cruel cross for guilty sinners like us. Jesus willingly laid down His life. He was obedient unto death, even death on the cross. Jesus, the sinless Son of God took the punishment that you and I deserve. We have all sinned against God, yet while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. God offers eternal life to each and every person who repents and puts their trust in Jesus. [Read more…]
While driving eight hours to the Kentucky Derby Outreach last Thursday (including an extra hour out of the way to avoid the local flooding) I had a lot of time to think about the outreach. I thought about the long drive to the camp and I was looking forward to fellowshipping with the other 24 evangelists from around the country and the teaching that night from Dr. Gentry from Southern Seminary. But I also couldn’t help but think about how long the drive was to Louisville, how the weather forecast was calling for rain both Friday and Saturday and remembering all the mockers and scoffers from The Derby the last few years and I realized that I really am crazy and all street evangelists really are crazy. It’s hard to describe Friday night. We had the usual mockers saying hail Satan, f you, you’re judging me, motorcyclist and drivers revving engines to drown us out as well as a parked motorcyclist blaring his music. We also had the guy back that mooned us – again and a group of girls started dancing together close to where we were witnessing. But praise God there were around 15 to 17 of us witnessing and the preachers kept preaching! [Read more…]
Friday night was Artwalk and there was a good crowd downtown. Kelly, Steven, Serenity, Diana, Elise, Aaron, Joe and I were blessed to have evangelist Larry Craft and his family join us. They nearly doubled the size of our group and we needed all hands-on deck, especially with the vocal atheists that stood in front of us all night. [Read more…]
The Lord keeps impressing upon me the urgency and necessity of preaching the glorious Gospel. Why? Because Heaven is real and eternal punishment in the lake of fire and brimstone is real.
