Why Do You Come Here?

I had some interesting interactions at Missouri State University on Wednesday. I handed out tracts while walking to the witnessing spot. One lady took a tract, but when she realized what it was, she handed it back and said I go to church. Personally, I wouldn’t respond that way. I’d say “I’m a believer too” or “I’m a follower of Jesus.” But mainly I take tracts when offered them. I like to see what other people are handing out. You never know, I may find a tract that I like even better than what I’m currently using. This was my first interaction and the last one ended with “Why do you come here?”  [Read more…]

Are you calling God a liar? This is a serious question. Are you calling God a liar tonight? The Springfield Skeptics are on the square tonight encouraging you to ask them questions. I’ve talked to some of these “skeptics” in the past and they aren’t really skeptics, they are flat out atheists. They emphatically say there is no God. I like to cook on the grill and I personally prefer using charcoal. Generally, I’ll cook hamburgers, hot dogs or chicken breast on the grill. But every now and then my wife will buy some steak. When I grill steak, I typically sear each side for a couple of minutes. Seared steaks tend to taste better than when you don’t sear them.  [Read more…]

We Were Listening

Jeff and I witnessed at the 36th Annual Bean Festival in Mountain View, Arkansas. Mountain View is a town of about 2,700 people, but there were probably between 5,000 and 6,000 people attending this year. They hand out beans and cornbread. Then they have an outhouse race and thankfully they weren’t functioning outhouses. The last message I brought was concerning men and women’s sinfulness and God’s Holiness. I pleaded with people to repent and trust Jesus. Then I asked the question “Is anybody listening?” If so, you should stop dead in your tracks and pay attention. Bless a lady’s heart, she walked over and said “We were listening right over there.”  [Read more…]

Student Says The Roman Catholic Church Wrote The New Testament

On Wednesday at Missouri State University I had one encourager and two mockers. I also encountered a statement that I hadn’t heard before, a student says the Roman Catholic Church wrote the New Testament. Now I have to admit that students sometimes crack me up because they believe anything and everything they see or hear on the internet. Yet, they don’t believe the Bible except for Matthew 7:1 where they quote “Judge not lest ye be judged.” But claiming the Roman Catholic Church wrote the New Testament is about as bad as it gets.  [Read more…]

Silent Mockers

Ministry Update October 7, 2018

Unlike last week where I encountered vocal mockers at Missouri State University, this week was silent mockers. Not a single person said a word, but I could tell by the look in their eyes that they didn’t want to hear the message. Maybe they don’t like the method of open-air preaching. Either way, I could see that many students were silent mockers. One student stood and listened for a while. I asked him if he had any questions and he just said no, so I kept bringing the message. A little later Brittany stopped to listen before she had to head on to class. She smiled and waved as she left. It’s always great to see her. On Wednesday, ten of us handed out 1,240 Hell’s Best Kept Secret CD’s at Missouri State University during the lunch hour. Praise God, that He held the rain off. On Monday, the weather app was calling for 80% chance of rain and possibility of hail for Wednesday morning. But the sky was clear for the first 45 minutes and then it only sprinkled a little after that.  [Read more…]

Whether You Listen Or Not

I was a sneaky child when I was little. Yes, I was a rebellious child. My parents and teachers would tell me what to do, but many times I wouldn’t listen. So I received many spankings. I guess you could say that I wasn’t very smart because most times I still wouldn’t listen. I had a rebellious spirit. But the adults in my life still spoke truth to me, they told me what I needed to hear, whether I listened or not. Deathbed Confession

Ministry Update August 19, 2018

Rich, Kelly, Steven and I witnessed downtown Friday night and it was a night with many mockers. Rich started us off. He had a few people revving their cars, scooters and motorcycles revving their engines as well as people yelling out of their cars. But he also had a guy that had an amplifier that was in one of the loft apartments across the parking lot in front of us. The guy kept repeating how he was gay (but he used a derogatory term for homosexuals) and kept mocking through probably the last half of Rich’s message. This guy said that he’s going to live his alternative lifestyle and then plans on a deathbed confession at the very end.  [Read more…]

In May of this year, Andy Stanley suggested that Christians need to unhitch the Old Testament from their faith. Now recently in an interview, Andy Stanley tried to clarify what he meant by that statement.
