There were forty laborers from Crossway Baptist Church handing out tracts at the Springfield Christmas parade on Saturday. Originally the weather forecasters were predicting one to three inches of snow. But praise God, that didn’t happen and we handed out thousands of Gospel tracts. Greg led the outreach and I think in the past we may have had around 15 or 16 people witnessing at one St. Patrick’s Day Parade, but praise God, this time there were forty of us! [Read more…]

Ministry Update August 19, 2018

Rich, Kelly, Steven and I witnessed downtown Friday night and it was a night with many mockers. Rich started us off. He had a few people revving their cars, scooters and motorcycles revving their engines as well as people yelling out of their cars. But he also had a guy that had an amplifier that was in one of the loft apartments across the parking lot in front of us. The guy kept repeating how he was gay (but he used a derogatory term for homosexuals) and kept mocking through probably the last half of Rich’s message. This guy said that he’s going to live his alternative lifestyle and then plans on a deathbed confession at the very end.  [Read more…]

I Don’t Know Jesus And Don’t Know If I Ever Will

Before Kelly and Steven joined me downtown Friday night, I handed out tracts. A lesbian couple walked by holding hands, but I just smiled and offered them a tract. The young woman closest to me took a tract. I figured getting God’s truth in her hand was better than bashing her over the head with warnings that no homosexual shall inherit the kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 6:9-10). One guy told me that he’d received my literature before, but he still took a tract and thanked me for being there. Another man was quite supportive and thanked me for sharing the Gospel out on the streets.  [Read more…]

Started Off Slow But Didn’t Stay That Way

Friday night witnessing downtown in Springfield, MO started off slow but didn’t stay that way. Joe, Darlene and I got there first and handed out tracts. Most of the people that walked by rejected tracts, but a few took them. Then Kelly joined us, but it was still going slowly at that time. We heard four people yell hail Satan, had a flasher, a stool kicker and a reprobate mind on Friday night. Kelly started us off and he preached from Romans 1 when four different people yelled “Hail Satan” while he was preaching. He also received the typical calls “judge not lest ye be judged.” The funniest part about that was he actually addressed this right at the beginning of his message. One of the first things he said was if you feel judged tonight, we are not the ones judging you. If you feel like you are being judged it will be because of God’s word. Is Open-Air Preaching the Most Effective Method?

I talked to a pastor last month and he wanted to know if open-air preaching is the most effective way to reach people in America. He wasn’t belittling street preaching. This pastor was genuinely questioning and thinking about this as he asked the question out loud. This pastor is a former missionary. He has done open-air preaching himself, but never in America. He has seen people come to salvation right on the spot after hearing the Gospel proclaimed in the open, but again, that wasn’t here in America. His thought was that Americans have already heard the Gospel. So he truly wonders if it is the most effective method to reach Americans. [Read more…]
