Jesus Wants You To Wear A Mask

Jesus Wants You To Wear A Mask
Ministry Update August 23, 2020

It was great being back on campus at Missouri State University to witness on Wednesday during the lunch hour. I was admonished by two people because I wasn’t wearing a mask while open-air preaching. Guess what? Both of them, the student and the older man purposefully walked in front of me to admonish me for not wearing a mask. The student walked in front of me to whine “Can you put a mask on?” Then a few minutes later the older man walked close by and said, “Jesus wants you to wear a mask?” Well I’m sorry, but I don’t find that in the Bible. I quote the precious Bible while I’m open-air preaching, but Jesus wants you to wear a mask is not in there. [Read more…]

Do You Really Want God To Judge You?

Do You Really Want God To Judge You?

The bible verse that’s thrown in an open-air preacher’s face more than any other is Matthew 7:1 – Judge not that ye be not judged. This may very well be the most overused and misquoted verse in the Bible. If you read further past verse one, you will see that Jesus is saying don’t be a hypocrite. I shouldn’t preach against adultery if I’m an adulterer. Jesus isn’t saying we shouldn’t judge (in fact He tells us to judge with righteous judgment – John 7:24). Along these same lines, we frequently hear people shout “Only God can judge me.” [Read more…]

The Lord Says Turn To Me And Be Saved

The Lord Says Turn To Me And Be Saved

You are walking down the sidewalk tonight and you walk past me. If I said, “Turn to me” you literally would have to turn around and go the opposite direction; the opposite way you are going. This is a picture of repentance. Repentance is a change of mind and a change of heart that leads to a change of actions. You don’t clean yourself up for God to save you. No, when God convicts you over your sins, you repent and trust Jesus to save you. So tonight, I want to share with you that the Lord says “Turn to Me and be saved.” [Read more…]

Poetry Reading

Poetry Reading
Ministry Update June 28, 2020

I’ve seen a lot of strange things while out street witnessing over the past 10 years, but I’ve never seen a poetry reading until last Friday night. That’s right, I witnessed poetry reading on a street corner. This wasn’t from some random person running up to us and reading poetry and it wasn’t just any old poem. No, my friend Kelly read a poem by Hosanna Wong called I Have A New Name.  It is a beautiful, powerful poem and Kelly was even choked up as he read it. People could hear the sincerity and love in his voice as he read this wonderful poem about believers having a new name in Christ.   [Read more…]

We’re All Going To Die!

We’re All Going To Die!

We’re all going to die! We’re all going to die! Yes, people are panicked over Covid-19 or the coronavirus. People are afraid of dying. All of this panicking has caused a shortage of hand sanitizer toilet paper and milk. Obviously, people need to quit hoarding necessary items and we all need to just shop like normal. Of course we all need to use necessary precautions and wash our hands and limit our exposure to others. But should we all be panicked? Should we all be running around screaming “We’re all going to die! We’re all going to die!”? [Read more…]

Too Much

Ministry Update March 7, 2020

Conner talked to one of the sign guys on the square before we both did open-air preaching. The sign guys believe that God does most of the work in salvation, but then we have to our part. They also believe in sinless perfectionism and they believe that you have to be good enough after salvation before you die, to go to Heaven. Typically, you can’t get anywhere with these guys, but Conner said that he had good conversation with one of them and the guy was at least thinking about what he said. While that was going on at the square, I was at our usual spot handing out New Testaments and Gospel tracts. My favorite encounter was with a guy who replied, “Too much.” [Read more…]

Anticipation

Anticipation

It’s hard to believe that we are in the year 2020. There’s a lot of anticipation for the new year. Some people are planning on getting into better physical shape, eating better, or maybe they have prospects of a new job. Others may be getting a driver’s license or going to college this year. Still others are planning on getting married or having babies. It’s a brand-new year and the best word I can use to describe it is anticipation. [Read more…]

The Way Of All The Earth

The Way Of All The Earth

Moses led the Israelites out Egypt, but he died and did not enter into the promised land of Canaan. He died because he sinned while leading the Israelites in the wilderness for 40 years. Moses disobeyed God’s direct order, so he died for his sin and couldn’t enter into Canaan. But Joshua led the Israelites into Canaan and God delivered the Canaanites into his hand. When Joshua was 110 years old, he died. But before he died, he said, “I am going the way of all the earth.” [Read more…]

I Will Own It Like A Boss!

I Will Own It Like A Boss!
Ministry Update September 29, 2019

The week before, I witnessed at MU with some friends in Columbia, MO and we had some really obnoxious mockers. So frankly, I was looking forward to witnessing at my usual spot at MSU this week. Yes, I typically have mockers, but not as bad as at MU. Well the students and a worker were wound up this week. I was trying to get the students to see that we have all sinned against God and that Jesus is the only Savior, so I quoted the 10 Commandments. Right after that, I said, “What will you do with your sins on Judgment Day?” A student was already mocking as he walked by, acting like he was kicking dirt at me and other gestures and loudly said, “I will own it like a boss!” [Read more…]

I’m Riding Her Shirttails To Heaven

Ministry Update September 8, 2019

Friday night was a little bit strange. Conner had a conversation with Louis who was out promoting a Christian play at JQH later this month. We really don’t know anything about it. But mainly we had lots of no’s to the offer of Gospel tracts and New Testaments. We also had several drive-by and walk-by mockers as well as others who said little quips but wouldn’t stop and talk; instead they just said something and kept walking. One couple passed by me and she took a New Testament and he refused one. Then he turned around as he kept walking backwards and said, “I’m riding her shirttails to Heaven.” [Read more…]
