Why Are You Doing This If Every Knee Will Bow?

The polite mocker at Missouri State University that typically just smiles as he walks by, stopped and said, “Can I ask you a question?” I said sure. Then he said, “Why are you doing this if every knee will bow?” Then he turned and walked away. Again, he generally just smiles or laughs as he walks by me. Some days street witnessing are tough and other times are a pure joy. Wednesday at Missouri State University was a very encouraging lunch hour. Thank God, 25 students took New Testaments. That would have been encouraging enough on its own, but while I was bringing a message, one student just said “Hello” and he seemed very sincere. I typically name the Super Bowl Outreaches when I write up the ministry updates, but I struggled with the name this year. Last year it was so cold in Minnesota, that Super Cold Super Bowl Outreach seemed a no-brainer. Six years ago in New Orleans we heard someone say “Jesus is ruining New Orleans” so how could I resist a title like that? But this year I had trouble thinking of the right name until I flew back home on Monday from Atlanta, the day after the Super Bowl. Reflecting back over the three days of witnessing, I remembered many conversations with my team leader Andy on how smooth this year’s outreach was going. That’s it! Sorry The Chiefs Are Not In The Super Bowl

I have always been a Kansas City Chiefs fan and it’s been a really long time since they made it as far as they did this year in the playoffs. I was only six years old when the Chiefs won Super Bowl IV in 1970. So I was sorely disappointed when the Chiefs lost the AFC Championship game to the Patriots. Why Do You Get So Mad?

Whether it’s at Missouri State University, Planned Parenthood, Pridefest or downtown Springfield, MO, I’m always amazed at how mad unbelievers get over the Gospel being proclaimed in the open-air. Some people get so enraged they don’t know what to do. They stomp around and usually cuss out the open-air preacher and vehemently claim that God isn’t real. Americans, Muslims And A Jew

Ministry Update November 4, 2018

Americans, Muslims and a Jews. I know, this sounds like the beginning of a bad joke, but it’s not. This is just a ministry update from witnessing in downtown Springfield, MO on November 2, 2018. Conner, Pastor Joshua and I witnessed downtown during Art Walk Friday night. We handed out tracts and all three of us did open-air preaching. While one person preached, the other two handed out tracts. Pastor Joshua and Conner got into a few conversations and I really only had a few brief encounters. But we talked to several Americans, Muslims and one Orthodox Jew. Needless to say, it was an interesting night.  [Read more…]

I like to cook on the grill and I personally prefer using charcoal. Generally, I’ll cook hamburgers, hot dogs or chicken breast on the grill. But every now and then my wife will buy some steak. When I grill steak, I typically sear each side for a couple of minutes. Seared steaks tend to taste better than when you don’t sear them.  [Read more…]

We Were Listening

Ministry Update October 28, 2018

Jeff and I witnessed at the 36th Annual Bean Festival in Mountain View, Arkansas. Mountain View is a town of about 2,700 people, but there were probably between 5,000 and 6,000 people attending this year. They hand out beans and cornbread. Then they have an outhouse race and thankfully they weren’t functioning outhouses. The last message I brought was concerning men and women’s sinfulness and God’s Holiness. I pleaded with people to repent and trust Jesus. Then I asked the question “Is anybody listening?” If so, you should stop dead in your tracks and pay attention. Bless a lady’s heart, she walked over and said “We were listening right over there.”  [Read more…]

Sin Means To Miss The Mark

On Wednesday at Missouri State University I couldn’t get a permit for my usual spot. So I open-air preached at Strong Hall. I like Strong Hall, it was the first spot I witnessed at when I started witnessing at MSU around seven years ago. Toward the end of the message, a young woman stopped to listen and then she came over to talk afterwards. She studies Hebrew at the university and she said the Greek word for sin means to miss the mark. To that I said a hearty Amen!   [Read more…]
