God’s Word

Do You Believe God’s Word

Do You Believe God’s Word?

Do you believe God’s word? Do you believe the Bible? In 2017 Barna did a study and found that only 17% of professing Christians in America hold to a biblical worldview. Their definition of a biblical worldview was “believing that absolute moral truth exists; the Bible is totally accurate in all of the principles it teaches; Satan is considered to be a real being or force, not merely symbolic; a person cannot earn their way into Heaven by trying to be good or do good works; Jesus Christ lived a sinless life on earth; and God is the all-knowing, all-powerful creator of the world who still rules the universe today.”

So you see why I’m questioning: Do you believe God’s word? It is a valid question. If only 17% of professing Christians have a biblical worldview, that means a lot of professing Christians do not hold to a biblical worldview. So what’s wrong with not having a biblical worldview? For one thing, you are placing yourself above God. You are making your own self a little g god and you are saying that you know better than the one true God, who HAS revealed Himself in Scripture. The Words Of Jesus

The Words of Jesus

Recently someone challenged me to bring a message with just the words of Jesus. In other words, the man didn’t want me to talk about the Old Testament or bring up the words that the Apostle Paul wrote. So even though I’m taking this person up on their challenge, I want to make clear that all 66 books of the Bible are inspired by God. The rest of the Bible is God’s word and is just as inspired by the Holy Spirit as the red letters (the words of Jesus) are (2 Timothy 3:16). [Read more…]

Student Yells “No One’s Listening To You”

No One’s Listening To You

Ministry Update November 17, 2019

A student turned the corner in front of me on Wednesday at MSU and yelled, “No one’s listening to you.” I ignored him, so he turned around and yelled it again and this time I ignored him as well. This comment is nothing new. Mockers love to discourage the Gospel going forth. But even if they are right and “no one is listening” the Gospel is still going forth. God’s word does not return void (Isaiah 55:11). Those whose hearts are being softened by the Lord are being softened and those whose hearts are being hardened are being hardened. Jesus Christ is glorified either way. Of course my hope and prayer is that lost souls will be saved, that they will repent and trust Jesus. [Read more…]

All Means All

All Means All

There is a very liberal church in Springfield, MO that has a message on their church sign that reads: ALL MEANS ALL. I agree with this church that all means all, but unfortunately there is a vast difference between what this church and I think all means all really means. They mean it that they are an open, affirming church. In other words, they affirm people in their sins. Conversely, I have a biblical viewpoint. [Read more…]

Persuasive Words

Persuasive Words

Have you ever had someone talk you into doing something that you didn’t want to do by using persuasive words? When I was a young kid, I remember older kids talking me into doing something I shouldn’t and usually something stupid. Or maybe you have had a slick salesperson talk you into buying something that you regretted purchasing. Sometimes people can persuade you with enticing words to fall for something or buy something that you really don’t need or may not even really want. [Read more…]

Walking Backwards

Ministry Update February 24, 2019

I ended the time witnessing at Missouri State University on Wednesday by walking backwards. But praise God, 20 students graciously received New Testaments before I brought a message. One gentleman that said he didn’t need a New Testament was a Navy veteran. I thanked him for his service and he said it was his pleasure. Then he said that he mainly just read reports. He could tell that I was surprised at his answer.  [Read more…]

The Buckle is Rusted

Springfield Missouri is in the Bible Belt and I’ve always heard that we are the buckle of the belt. I think we can even make a good argument that we are the buckle. In addition to having a church on just about every corner, we have several bible colleges and we are home to the Assemblies of God world headquarters. So maybe we are the buckle of the Bible Belt.  [Read more…]

Bible Minded Springfield

A report came out a little over a month ago that said Springfield, Missouri is the fourth most Bible minded city in America. Let’s pat ourselves on the back fellow Springfieldians. That’s really something isn’t it; number four in the nation? Let’s celebrate our achievement. Wait a minute. What does Bible minded even mean? The report didn’t say Bible believing or God fearing; it said Bible minded. So does that mean most of our homes have four or five Bibles in it? Probably so. But it doesn’t matter how many Bibles you own if you never open one up. It doesn’t matter how Bible minded you are, if you never read God’s Word. [Read more…]
