Friday night Polly and I went witnessing downtown. Another group was at our usual corner, so my plan was to go one block closer to the square at South and McDaniel. We got there before 8 pm and it was busy. This was the first Friday in August and Artwalk. So, several tracts were handed out on the corner. God is known as the great Creator, the one true God, all powerful, all knowing and ever-present God. He’s also called Father God. There is no god beside Him. The Bible has many names for God including Lord God Almighty, the most high God, Lord, Master, the Lord my Shepherd, the Lord that heals, the Lord is peace, the Lord of hosts and the everlasting God, just to name a few. Friday night Kelly, Aaron, Margaret, Diana, Elise, Desi and I started off singing hymns like normal. Then Kelly started us off with the first message. He had a car that kept driving by with a woman at the wheel and a man in the passenger seat. She laid on the horn and he stuck his head out the window motioning that he couldn’t hear Kelly. You can’t fool the Lord. God will judge the wicked. He is Holy, righteous and just. The Lord is all powerful, all knowing and ever present. God cannot tolerate sin and He does punish sin. Even though you may think that you are “getting away” with your sins, you are not. God knows all, sees all and will punish all; all those who refuse to repent and trust Jesus. [Read more…]
The Gift Of God
The greatest gift ever given was Jesus Christ. God sent His only Son to suffer, bleed and die on a cruel cross for guilty sinners like us. Jesus willingly laid down His life. He was obedient unto death, even death on the cross. Jesus, the sinless Son of God took the punishment that you and I deserve. We have all sinned against God, yet while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. God offers eternal life to each and every person who repents and puts their trust in Jesus. [Read more…]
Love not hate. Students I come here and share the Gospel with you every week out of love not hate. I do not hate you. If I hated you, I would not spend my lunch hour hear pleading with you to come to Jesus Christ. If I hated you, I wouldn’t care if you died in your sins and you went on to Hell. But I do not hate you. I lift my voice up so you can hear me from several directions as you are coming and going. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God so my great desire is for you to hear God’s truth, that He will convict you over your sins and that the Lord would grant you eternal life. The Lord keeps impressing upon me the urgency and necessity of preaching the glorious Gospel. Why? Because Heaven is real and eternal punishment in the lake of fire and brimstone is real. Every single one of us will spend eternity in the presence of God, worshiping Him forever or we will suffer His righteous wrath over our sins for all eternity. It’s one or the other. How can you have a bad night when a man walks up and says he just got saved earlier tonight? Friday Night Aaron and I were getting ready to sing hymns and street preach when Danny walked by us and he took a tract. When he realized what it was he was all excited. Then he walked up closer and told us that he just got saved at Freeway Ministries. We praised God with him and Aaron asked if we could pray with him and Danny said sure. So we prayed for him and before he walked away I asked him if he had a Bible and he said no. I offered him a Bible and he gladly took it. [Read more…]
Friday night was full of noise! Noise! Noise! No, I’m not talking about our little 37 watt amplifiers. I’m talking about the motorcyclists revving their engines and cranking their stereo’s up. Several cars and trucks revved their engines too. It was very noisy downtown. I understand that lost people don’t like hearing the Gospel. The Bible says it is foolishness to those who are perishing. But a lot of this animosity was directed toward us while we were singing hymns. We also heard many hail Satan’s and other derogatory comments. [Read more…]
