Genuine Repentance

Im Sorry

I’m sorry. We say it a lot and we hear it a lot. If you accidentally bump into someone while you are walking or if you step on someone’s foot, most of us will say “I’m sorry.” In fact, the smaller the infraction, the easier it is to say that you are sorry. But what about when we really hurt someone? How easy is to say it and mean it when you are caught telling lies about someone or when you betray a friend? Or what if you cheat on your spouse? What if you accidentally kill someone in a car accident? Would it be easy to say sorry then? Your attorney would tell you not to say that you are sorry because then you would be admitting guilt. Later on we go to work and earn a living. We get paid for doing our job. We put in the effort and then we are rewarded with a paycheck.

Legal Kill

September 24, 2011 by dennis@seekandsavethelost.com 2 Comments

It is illegal to murder someone in the United States of America (unless it is self-defense) and the same is true in most countries around the world. On the other hand, most “developed” countries in the world allow legalized abortions. We can’t kill someone in America unless it’s self-defense, but it is legal to kill a defenseless baby? We can’t legally kill a lot of animals, but we can kill an innocent baby? This makes no sense to me. [Read more…]

Repentance: When Sorry Isn’t Enough

May 5, 2010 by dennis@seekandsavethelost.com 2 Comments

When my youngest daughter gets into trouble she says “sawree”. What she is trying to say is that she’s sorry, but she says it quickly, flippantly and with no real feelings or meaning. Repentance means more than just saying your sorry. True repentance is more than saying your sorry and really meaning it. True repentance means turning away from your sins and turning toward God.
