David

You Are The Man!

You Are The Man!

Have you ever had someone tell you, “You are the man!” Or “You’re the man?” Obviously, people mean this is in a good way. Maybe you’ve done a really good job at work or your department has performed really well and people at work will tell you, “You are the man!” Or maybe you were really good at sports in high school and people called you “the man or the woman”. Again, we typically hear this as being a good thing. But did you know the Bible talks about a person being the man and it’s not in a good way?

The Bible tells us that at the time when kings typically went out to war, King David stayed in his palace. One day he was walking on the roof top, looking around and he saw a beautiful woman taking a bath. He told one of his servants to fetch her and they did. Then David committed adultery with the woman. The woman’s name was Bathsheba and she was married to Uriah the Hittite. Well, Bathsheba became pregnant from their sexual encounter, so David thought no problem, he’d just have her husband brought back home from the war. Uriah would sleep with his wife and the problem would be solved. [Read more…]

Atheism Offers No Hope

On the front page of the Opinion page of the New York Times on May 31, 2019, there was an article by Amber Scorah titled: Surviving The Death Of My Son After The Death Of My Faith. It’s a heart-breaking story of a baby boy that died at only four months old. Amber Scorah doesn’t believe in God, so she has no hope. No hope of ever seeing her child again. She has no hope because she is an Atheist and Atheism offers no hope. [Read more…]

What Is Repentance?

What Is Repentance?

My friends and I come out here on the streets and plead with people to repent and trust Jesus as their Lord and Savior. We call unrepentant sinners to repent. Yes, we are merely calling you to do what Jesus Himself said. Jesus said “unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.” He also said “repent and believe the Gospel.” The Bible says that we are to “have repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.” So it is very biblical for us to plead with people to repent and trust Jesus. But what is repentance?  [Read more…]

Praising God the Right Way

In Psalm 9:1, David says that he will praise God with his whole heart. Do you praise God with your whole heart? Are you praising God the right way? I may have moments where God gets all of my heart; but not all of it as often as He should receive it. David goes on further to say that he will show God’s marvelous works to others. Are we doing that like we should? Are we the salt and light of this world that Jesus called us to be?

(Matthew 5:13-16)

We Are Innocent

I have heard several rock groups sing songs saying that we are innocent. I assume they mean that we are born innocent. In fact, the group Submersed has a song called To Peace and they say, “we are born innocent.” Our Lady Peace sings Innocent and they say, “we are all innocent.” Kutless has a song called Hearts of the Innocent where they describe young people as being innocent.
