I tried something different on Wednesday since there weren’t any classes in session at MSU because of Christmas break. I held a sign at the corner of Glenstone and Battlefield during the lunch hour. The sign states: Jesus Came To Save His People From Their Sins. Are You One Of His People? Have You Repented And Surrendered Your Life To Jesus? It was only five days until Christmas. Most people were probably thinking about shopping or lunch. Maybe some were even thinking about Christmas – about the birth of Jesus. I love God’s word and I love reading the Bible. God constantly reveals truth to us through the Holy Spirit while reading the Bible, no matter how many times we’ve read a passage of Scripture. What’s really fascinating is how the Bible comes alive while out street witnessing. Many times we’ll be open-air preaching and just right on cue, God sends a mocker walking by that confirms His truth contained in His word. Conner and I witnessed in downtown Springfield, MO on Friday night. After Conner prayed, I brought a message. We had a couple of hecklers, but the one that stands out was one with a car load of people a girl yelled out the car window, “If we don’t sin Jesus died in vain.” This is one of the things about street ministry, you never know what people are going to say and it wouldn’t even come to mind otherwise. Even in our current secular society, many people will profess that they believe in Jesus. We see it all the time in Springfield, MO as well as other parts of the country. A friend of mine that is an open-air preacher that lives in North Carolina recently posted a video of a cowboy that professed that he believed in Jesus. Last week a student came up to me while I was open-air preaching and he self-identified as a gay atheist and told me that there is nothing that I can say to change his mind. The sign here says Kneel To Jesus. I borrowed my friends sign because one day we will all kneel to Jesus, whether today you believe this or not. Every knee will bow, every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. Today, you may be a God mocker or a God scoffer, but one day you will bow your knee, you will confess that Jesus is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. That He is right. That He is just. On Monday August 28, 2017, I witnessed at the University of Missouri with Jeremy, his brother Joshua and his son Joseph. We handed out tracts and the three of us guys brought open-air messages. While I was handing out tracts, one student walked up to me and looked at the Gospel tract in my hand and asked “Is that the weed card or the God card?” I replied, “the God card” to which he said naw, he wasn’t interested. He walked over to the guy gathering marijuana signatures for a petition to get marijuana on the ballot in November. So, I yelled after the student that weed can’t save you. Only Jesus saves. I used to be a real sports fanatic. Yes, I’m embarrassed to say that 20 to 25 years ago, I’d be the guy chewing out the referee at a basketball game. Red faced, veins popping out in my neck. Even though I’m nothing like I used to be, I do still like sports. Some sports have what is called sudden death, as in sudden death playoffs. In golf for example, if two or more golfers are tied at the end of a tournament, those players start playing again and the first person to score the lowest on a hole first, wins the tournament.
