Went Around The Block And Came Back

Ministry Update December 6, 2020

It was cold Friday night, so Keven and I discussed walking around and handing out tracts after the message. So as soon as I finished open-air preaching, I grabbed my witnessing bag and off we went. To our surprise, a man chased us half a block away. When he caught up with us, he thanked me for open-air preaching. He said he was driving by and heard the message, went around the block and came back to listen to the rest of it. The guy said we need more preaching on the streets. Keven told him some other guys were going to do the same thing in about 30 minutes. Keven asked him if we could pray for him and he said yes. As they talked a little bit, the man said that he hoped he was a Christian. [Read more…]

Who Do You Hold Fast To?

Who Do You Hold Fast To?

Last Friday when I was driving to witness downtown, I noticed the name of the bar at the corner of East Trafficway and Kimbrough. It’s called Hold Fast Brewing. Hold fast reminded me of the Christian song He Will Hold Me Fast by Keith Getty. Then I thought, I really don’t know what hold fast even means. Do you know what it means to hold fast? According to Dictionary.com, hold fast means to continue to believe in or adhere to an idea or principle. So on one hand we have a brewing company called Hold Fast Brewing. Evidently, they are going to hold fast to their commitment to make beer (or maybe they want you to hold fast to their beer). The Christian song He Will Hold Me Fast talks about Jesus holding believers secure. [Read more…]

Why The Message – I Am Philip Seymour Hoffman And I Have Fame And…

Why The Message – I Am Philip Seymour Hoffman And I Have Fame And…

I praise God for the many brothers and sisters in Christ that are still witnessing at abortion clinics around the country during the Covid-19 pandemic. It breaks my heart that some of them are being arrested for standing against the evil, “essential” business of murdering babies in the womb. May God strengthen and encourage each and every believer that is standing for the pre-born. Since I have family members and co-workers with family members that are at high risk, I am observing the shelter in place rules of the city Springfield and the state of Missouri. So during this time of not being able to witness like normal, I thought I’d share some behind the scenes comments of some previous messages starting with the message I Am Philip Seymour Hoffman And I Have Fame And…

It was very said to hear in early February 2014 that Philip Seymour Hoffman had died from a drug overdose. Obviously, he had many movies that I never saw because they were inappropriate, but of the ones I did watch, he appeared to be a gifted actor. The more I read about him, his problems with alcohol and drugs, fathering three children out of wedlock with his girlfriend, the more I realized that he is suffering in Hell at this very minute. Next, I wondered what he believed spiritually. Sadly, I found out that his own sister had witnessed to him when she became a devout Christian, and Philip Seymour Hoffman rejected the salvation that is found in Christ alone. This breaks my heart and it breaks my heart when anyone dies and goes to Hell.

If you have read any of my other blog posts before, you will immediately recognize that this one is different. I tried to imagine what it must have been like to be high one second and suffering the torments of Hell the very next second. What would go through your mind? Especially if you were Philip Seymour Hoffman and you had fame and fortune. What good did that fame and fortune do after you died with Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior? This message is a warning to others to repent and believe the Gospel. Don’t continue barreling down the broad road to destruction. Repent of your sins and surrender your life to Jesus. Do this before it’s too late. Do not die in your sins and suffer the torments of Hell for all eternity.

Blessed More Ways Than One

Ministry Update June 10, 2018

Friday night it was a real blessing to have Rich join Kelly, Conner and I witnessing downtown. Rich and his family have been living in China for nearly three years and they just got into Springfield on Wednesday and I’m sure he was still jet lagged. Now that I think of it, Rich witnessed with Kelly and I at MSU just a few days before he left for China in August 2015. So he came back and joined us the same he joined us before he left. But Friday night we were blessed more ways than one.  [Read more…]

Young Man Wouldn’t Let Go Of The New Testament

Ministry Update April 1, 2018

Friday night before Thomas joined me witnessing downtown, I handed out several tracts. A group of guys all took tracts. One of the guys stopped and thanked me for being out there. He told me that his mom has been after him to get right with God. I told him that his mom is telling right, he needs to get right with God. Then surprisingly, the guy admitted to me that he is a drunk (his own words). I exhorted him that he needs to repent and trust Jesus (Galatians 5:21).  [Read more…]

Cold But Not Too Cold To Mock God

Cold But Not Too Cold To Mock God

Friday night was very cold. It was 32 degrees and it felt like 21 degrees with the biting wind. It was cold but not too cold to mock God. I’m always amazed at how God mockers can stop and mock God, no matter how cold the weather is and Friday night was no exception. Sadly, even on this cold night, people were lined up most of the night to get into the bar Outland Ballroom across the street from us. But they heard the Gospel as they waited to get in.  [Read more…]

Rainy Lunch Hour At MSU

MSU Rainy Day Aug 31 2016

Before I talk about the preacher being punched, I want to tell you about witnessing last Wednesday during my lunch hour at MSU. I preached at Strong Hall (something was going on at our usual spot). It rained the whole time, but I enjoyed being there. This is where I started witnessing at MSU several years ago, but we moved to a different spot last year. Several students encouraged me to shut up as they walked by, but I declined to give in to their request. The truth went forth and may God continue to convict and convert lost students.  [Read more…]

We Are All Sinners

 We Are All Sinners

We Are All Sinners

None of us are perfect. We are all sinners. For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one (Romans 3:10-12).  [Read more…]

?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Is It Me?

Is it me? That’s the question Jesus’ disciples asked Him when He told them that one of them was going to betray Him. Is it me? Matthew 26:20-25 says: Now when the even was come, he sat down with the twelve. And as they did eat, he said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.  [Read more…]

Are You a Good Person?

March 9, 2015 by dennis@seekandsavethelost.com Leave a Comment

Seek and Save the Lost Halo

Over the past six years I’ve asked many people while out street witnessing “are you a good person?” About 99% of the people have said yes to that question. I even talked to one young man who told me that he had just gotten out of prison one week earlier where he had served three years for stealing a car. I talked to him for a while and before I asked him the question I thought surely he will admit that he’s not a good person, but he didn’t. I asked him if he was a good person and he said yes, he was. I reminded him that he had just told me that he served three years in prison for stealing a car. So I asked him how he could still be a good person and he said that the reason he stole the car was because his family was hungry, so he didn’t consider it to be a bad thing since his motive was good.  [Read more…]
