Sweet Christian Fellowship
Ministry Update August 18, 2019
Friday night the Springfield Opera celebrated their 40-year gala at the Gillioz Theatre. I’m sure they had a sweet time at the gala. Ben and I had sweet Christian fellowship outside. While I was bringing a message, Ben rode up on his bicycle. He’s the same guy that recently prayed for me when I had a rough day and couldn’t even open-air preach that night. But this time I was talking about God being angry with the wicked forever and after the message, Ben and I had a great brotherly discussion. It was a sweet time of fellowship.
Before and after the message, I handed out a total of 20 New Testaments. Most people said they were good or that they already had a Bible at home. One guy told me he had a New Testament in his pocket. I always love hearing when people carry God’s word wherever they go. I handed one to a very drunk guy. He asked for money, but when I told him I didn’t have any, he angrily handed the New Testament back to me. Later on he came back by and tried to hand me his change because he wanted a cigarette. I told him I don’t smoke and I didn’t want his change. He angrily stomped off a second time.
But while I brought the message, I had one drive-by mocker that mocked twice. The first time he drove away from me yelling go home. The second time he drove in front of me, but I couldn’t hear what he said. Again, the message was about God being angry at the wicked so I just said, “I don’t even want to see this God-hating mocker die and go to Hell.” So I pleaded with the man as he was stopped at a stoplight to repent from his sins and surrender his life to Jesus.
Three Encouragers And A Smirk
On Wednesday, my wife and I witnessed at Planned Parenthood where we had three encouragers and one person who smirked. Two drivers honked beep-beep as they drove by. You can tell friendly drivers because they honk politely. Angry drivers lay on the horn as they go by to show you how much they disagree with you. But this day we only had friendly people honking their horns.
Then a guy wheeled into the parking lot really fast and jumped out of his car. As he came toward us, my wife moved closer to me, wanting to make sure I saw what was going on. I told her that I saw him. Frankly, we couldn’t tell if he was a friend or a foe until he got right to us. That’s when he shook my wife’s hand and then mine. He thanked us for being out there and got back in his car and sped off.
There were several people going in and out of Planned Parenthood. None of them interacted with us. One young woman walked to her car that was close to us and I asked her if she has blasphemed the Holy Spirit. She just smirked and got in her car and drove away. I clearly shared the Gospel with the patrons and workers at Planned Parenthood. As well as pleading with mothers to no kill their babies and also pointed them to the Pregnancy Care Center.
(These updates are provided to encourage Christians to share the Gospel with others. Salvation is of the Lord so the results are always up to God. We are commanded by Jesus to share the Gospel. Christian, are you obeying our Lord Jesus?)
