Student Says The Roman Catholic Church Wrote The New Testament
Ministry Update October 14, 2104
On Wednesday at Missouri State University I had one encourager and two mockers. I also encountered a statement that I hadn’t heard before, a student says the Roman Catholic Church wrote the New Testament. Now I have to admit that students sometimes crack me up because they believe anything and everything they see or hear on the internet. Yet, they don’t believe the Bible except for Matthew 7:1 where they quote “Judge not lest ye be judged.” But claiming the Roman Catholic Church wrote the New Testament is about as bad as it gets.
The Roman Catholic Church claims that it goes back to death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Catholics also claim that Peter was the first pope. But this isn’t true. Jesus never mentioned anything about the Roman Catholic Church. The apostle Peter who did write two books of the New Testament through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, never mentioned the Roman Catholic Church nor the papacy.
Jesus Is The Only Mediator Between God And Man
Jesus said that He is the way, the truth and the life and no man comes to the Father except by Him (John 14:6). No mention of the pope or the Catholic Church hierarchy. Also, no mention of Mary being able to save you. The Bible also says the Jesus is the only mediator between God and man. If Jesus is the ONLY mediator between God and man, then insisting on another mediator is not only wrong, it is clearly anti-biblical. You can be assured that any group or cult that contradicts Scripture is indeed a cult and can in no way be credited with actually writing the Bible.
The Bible was written by approximately 40 authors over about 1,600 years on three different continents in three different languages. Yet it all has a common theme – we are sinners, God is Holy and Jesus Christ is the only Savior. Don’t trust in the pope or any other false teacher. Trust in Christ alone for salvation. Repent from your sins and surrender your life to Jesus and be saved.
