I think Slut Walk is a horrible name for your cause. Do you really want to be known as a slut walker? It sounds too much like street walker. I totally disagree with your method, but I understand your agenda. You are against the rape culture in America. This is something we can agree on.
As Christians, my friends and I agree with you that rape is wrong. In fact, we go a step further and we believe that all sexual relations outside of biblical marriage between a man and a woman are wrong. We believe marriage and sexual relations are a gift from God. Since we believe what God‘s word says, it’s easy for us to say that consensual sex outside of biblical marriage is wrong. Rape is a horrendous crime. It most definitely is wrong.
Again, we strongly disagree with your protest method, but we totally agree that rape is wrong. We believe all sin is wrong. Stealing is wrong. Blaspheming God’s name is wrong. Worshiping false idols is wrong. Adultery, fornication, homosexuality are wrong. Coveting is wrong. Murder is definitely wrong.
You are here protesting the rape culture tonight, so I want to ask you do you also protest the murder culture in America? Are you against murder? All killings? Are you willing to join us when we protest against murder? Are you willing to join us when we protest against Planned Parenthood?
Are you against the murder of little babies in the womb? How many of you are pro-life? Is there a single slut walker out here tonight that is pro-life? Are you as adamant about saving babies lives as you are about protesting rape? Is there one? Is there one pro-life person in this protest tonight or are all of you pro-choice? Are all of you pro-murder?
People love to call Christians hypocrites. We hear things like: we are all sinners – including you – you hypocrites! Yes, people get mad when we lift up the name of Jesus Christ and they typically accuse us of being judgmental and they usually call us names like hypocrites.
Well, tonight I think I can legitimately call you a hypocrite; if you are against rape but at the same time you are for murdering little babies. Don’t be a hypocrite! Have you watched any of the 10 undercover Planned Parenthood videos that show their culture of death? Have you watched how they brag about selling baby parts? Are you against little babies being ripped apart limb by limb? Have you seen how they brag about crushing little babies in specific ways so they can earn more money? Are you against the death culture in America?
Yes rape is horrible. All rapists should be severely punished, but all murderers should be punished too. The Bible is clear that we are all made in the image of God. Some people act ungodly, some hate God, some mock God and some revile God, but we are all made in His image; even those who mock Him. But precious unborn babies in the womb are also made in the very image of our Creator God, yet their lives are viciously snuffed out. Yes, they feel pain. Yes it is inhumane to murder someone and it is most horrendous to kill a little child in the womb. If somebody was out here tonight killing dogs, cats or baby seals, most of you would go absolutely berserk and rightly so.
You should be against these horrific acts. How much more valuable is a human life than the life of an animal? Don’t be a hypocrite. Yes, be against rape. Yes, be against cruelty to animals. Be against bullies. Yes, be against those who mistreat the less fortunate in society. Yes, be against all unrighteous behavior. Yes, be against murder; especially the murder of little babies in the womb. Will you join us? Will you join us when we protest against Planned Parenthood? Will you be pro-life? Will you be a voice for the voiceless? Or will you be a hypocrite?
Rape is wrong. The Bible condemns it. When Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite raped Jacob’s daughter Dinah, listen to what her brothers did to him and the men of his town: And it came to pass on the third day, that two of the sons of Jacob, Simeon and Levi, Dinah’s brethren, took each man his sword, and came upon the city boldly, and slew all the males. And they slew Hamor and Shechem his son with the edge of the sword, and took Dinah out of Shechem’s house, and went out. The sons of Jacob came upon the slain, and spoiled the city, because they had defiled their sister. They took their sheep, and their oxen, and their donkeys, and that which was in the city, and that which was in the field.
Now please don’t get me wrong, we are not advocating vigilante justice. The Israelites were in a strange land and they had no one to plead their cause to. The point is, Dinah’s brothers knew that it wrong for Shechem to rape their sister and they avenged her.
Please listen to these words found in Deuteronomy 22:25-27: But if a man find a betrothed damsel in the field, and the man force her, and lie with her: then the man only that lay with her shall die. But unto the damsel thou shalt do nothing; there is in the damsel no sin worthy of death: for as when a man riseth against his neighbour, and slayeth him, even so is this matter: For he found her in the field, and the betrothed damsel cried, and there was none to save her.
You think God doesn’t hate rape? In the Old Testament, the Israelites were told that the penalty for rape was death. Do you think rapists should get the death penalty? What about murderers, should they get the death penalty? The Bible says so. Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man (Genesis 9:6). Life is valuable. Life is precious. So when a person kills someone with premeditation, they should receive the death penalty.
Again, life is precious and life begins at conception. Why wouldn’t you be in favor of protecting an innocent little baby in the womb? That should be the safest place on earth for the unborn, but unfortunately, it is the most dangerous place for precious little babies in America. Won’t you plead for the unborn? Won’t you plead with women to stop murdering their babies?
God hates sin. He is against all unrighteous behavior. The soul that sins, it shall die. You have probably heard the Bible verse that no murderer shall inherit eternal life (1 John 3:15). But please listen to the whole verse: Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer, and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.
Have you ever hated someone? Maybe some of you hate me and my friends right now. If you have ever hated anyone, then you are guilty of murdering that person in your heart. You are guilty of murder. We’ve all done this folks. If you are honest with yourself tonight ,you would have to admit that you have hated someone. No murderer shall inherit everlasting life (1 John 3:15). Revelation 21:8 says: But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
So it’s not just murderers who will be in trouble on Judgment Day. The fearful will be in trouble. Whoremongers will be in trouble. Idolaters will be in trouble. All liars will be in trouble. Here’s a hint for you: if we all have hated someone at one time or another (and we have), I assure you that we all have lied. We are all sinners. We have all sinned against a righteous and Holy God and there is nothing we can do to get back right with Him on our own.
But don’t despair tonight. There is hope. There is hope in Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ our Lord lived a perfect and sinless life. He willingly gave up His life for guilty sinners like us. He bore the punishment that you and I deserve.
The only thing that can atone for our sins is perfection. The only One who could measure up to God’s perfect standard was Jesus. He took our sins upon Himself as He was beaten beyond recognition. He bore our sins as He hung on the old rugged cross; the whole time with God pouring His wrath, His righteous indignation over sinful man out upon His own sinless, precious Son.
He was afflicted by God. He was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all (Isaiah 53:5-6).
Oh folks we are all guilty sinners. We deserve God’s wrath. But you can be set free from the bondage of sin. Your sins can be forgiven. Jesus suffered, bled and died for our sins. But you must receive the free gift of salvation. Repent and trust Jesus tonight. Surrender your life to Him.
You need to get real with yourself tonight. Admit that you are a sinner. Confess and forsake your sins. Turn from your sins and put your faith in Jesus. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10:13).
Do not be deceived tonight; the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God. We are to watch what we say: Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers (Ephesians 4:29). We are to watch our actions: Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth (Ephesians 4:28). We are supposed to dress modestly: In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array (1 Timothy 2:9).
But it’s more than watching what you say or what you do or how you dress. It’s about surrendering your life to Jesus Christ – fully and completely. Not holding anything back. When Jesus Christ is your Savior, you will no longer have a desire to dress immodestly. When Jesus saves you, He sets you free. He sets the captive free. He’ll take away your desire for alcohol and drugs. He’ll take away your desire for sexual immorality. He’ll take away your fleshly desires and He will give you His spiritual desires; He will give you godly desires.
But do not be deceived tonight. Unless you have been born again, you cannot even see the kingdom of God (John 3:3). Jesus will meet you wherever you are at tonight, but He loves you too much to leave you in the filth of the gutter. He will cleanse you on the inside and then you will desire to be clean on the outside. Come to Jesus tonight. Confess and forsake your sins. Put your trust in Christ alone. Do this tonight and be saved.
(Thankfully there weren’t a lot of participants in Slut Walk. In fact they walked by us while we were singing one verse of one song, so I had to adjust the message Friday night October 2, 2015. This posting is the original message that I had prepared).
