Right Side Of History
We frequently hear in the news about being on the right side of history. When people say this, what they are really saying is that those of us who hold to a biblical worldview, need to forget the Bible and get with the current sexual revolution. They are saying that gay marriage is here to stay and gender identity is fluid and those of us who disagree need to get “on the right side.” If we don’t do so, we are going to find ourselves on the wrong side of history.
But is this true? Are those of us who hold to a biblical worldview going to find ourselves on the wrong side of history? Maybe so, in this gender confused world that seems to grow more confused by the day. Christian bakers, photographers and others are being persecuted, fined and even run out of business by states that accuse them of committing hate crimes.
Will Christians be viewed as being on the wrong side of history? Temporarily, say even the next 20, 30, 40, 50 years, we may be viewed as being on the wrong side of history. But long term, are we really going to find ourselves on the wrong side of history? Or will Christians ultimately find ourselves on the right side of history?
Yes, Christians such as my friends and myself will ultimately, eternally find ourselves on the right side of history. This current confused society that we live in will not be the right side in the long run. I know what I’m saying is politically incorrect and will drive some people absolutely crazy, but it is the truth and I can prove it.
Celebrating The Birth Of Jesus
Next week, we are celebrating the birth of Jesus. There has been no other birth like His nor will there ever be one like Jesus again. (By the way, Jesus wasn’t gender confused. He was born a male and He was circumcised on the 8th day as was the Jewish custom. No confusion, no gender fluidity. Jesus is the Son of God the Father). Jesus was born of the virgin Mary and the Holy Spirit. He was fully God and fully man. He perfectly was two natures in one. Yes, we celebrate Christmas because Jesus, the eternal Lord was born in the flesh 2,000 years ago.
Jesus’ miraculous birth, perfect life and sacrificial death was so unique, so important that we even mark time based on His birth. Our calendar is based on the birth of Jesus. Would you agree that this has historical significance? How could you argue otherwise? We base our years as before Christ or after Christ. This is a historical fact. It is history. Yes, it is the right side of history.
Not only was Jesus born, Immanuel – God with us, He also lived a perfect, sinless life. Jesus never sinned, not once. The Lord Jesus perfectly obeyed God the Father, His whole life. He never sinned, not one time. Unlike you and me, Jesus never lied, stole, lusted, coveted, or disobeyed His parents. The Lord never sinned, yet He sacrificed His life on the cruel cross to save those who repent and trust in Him. Jesus came to save His people from their sins (Matthew 1:21) .
The Lord Died On The Cross
Jesus was beaten beyond recognition. He was bruised for our iniquities, by His stripes we are healed. Not only was Jesus severely beaten to the point you couldn’t recognize Him, worse yet, God poured His righteous anger over sin out upon His own precious Son. Jesus endured God’s wrath over sin as He hung on the old rugged cross. Jesus paid the sin debt that He did not owe. Christ the Lord died on the cross, was buried and rose from the grave three days later.
Jesus defeated sin, death, Hell and Satan. Salvation is the free gift from God, but you must receive it. Those who receive salvation through repentance and faith in Jesus receive everlasting life. This is Good News! Your sins can be forgiven. You can be washed white as snow. God will no longer hold your sins against you, if you repent from your sins and surrender your life utterly and completely to Jesus.
We are pleading with you tonight to do so. If you don’t, then the guilt of your sins remains upon you. If you die in your rebellion against God, you will suffer His righteous indignation over your sins for all eternity. Either Jesus paid your sin debt or you still owe it.
No Middle Ground
There is no middle ground. God is not confused. You are either repentant and trusting in Jesus for your salvation or you are still saying no to God. No, we will not have this man reign over us. Jesus is either your Lord and Savior or He will be your Judge, if you foolishly die in your sins. If you die as an unrepentant sinner, as a rebel against Almighty God, then Jesus will declare you guilty on Judgment Day – the day of the Lord. Judgment day is not a trial, it’s a sentencing. You’re already guilty
No matter what society thinks, no matter what is politically correct today in America, it is eternity that matters. Each and every one of us has an eternal soul. Yes, whether you believe it or not, whether you believe in God or not, your soul will reside in Heaven with Jesus for all eternity or you will suffer eternal damnation forever. Again, it’s one or the other. Those who repent and believe on the Lord Jesus will live with Him for all eternity. Those who die guilty sinners will suffer the torments of Hell forever.
It’s appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment. There is judgment to come and it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Your political correctness won’t save you on Judgment Day. Your being on what you call the right side of history will gain you no favor with our righteous God on Judgment Day. You will find out that you truly were on the wrong side of history and it will be too late. That is, if you die in your sins. If you die without Jesus Christ being your Lord and Savior.
Only God’s Word Matters
No matter what society says, no matter what the majority of people want to think or believe, it’s only God’s word that matters. Those today who think they are on the right side of history love the things that God abhors, that God hates. These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaks lies, and he that sowes discord among brethren (Proverbs 6:16-19).
Please notice that this list of things that God hates includes the shedding of innocent blood. Probably the top item in America of what people think is the right side of history is a woman’s right to choose. Her right to abort her baby. In fact, people try to sanitize it by saying a baby is just a clump of cells or a fetus, but a pregnant woman is with child, she is carrying a baby inside of her. That is, until she “chooses” to abort or kill that little baby.
Shedding Of Innocent Blood
God hates the shedding of innocent blood. So even though the majority of Americans believe in a woman’s right to choose, God calls the killing of a little baby in the womb an abomination. Do you really think God is going to change His mind on Judgment Day? Do you think God is going to get with it or get on the “right side of history” as pro-choice people like to say? No, He is not. What God hated thousands of years ago, He still hates today.
How about sexual immorality? Today, what many consider the right side of history, believe that anything goes. Men can marry men. Women can marry women. You don’t even have to acknowledge that you are a man or a woman and you can even go back and forth if you so choose. People believe in gender fluidity. But what does God say about this?
Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind (homosexuals), Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 6:9-10).
Unpopular Bible Verses
Folks, these Bible verses are not very popular today. In fact, many people believe that these verses are on the wrong side of history, just like they think pro-life is the wrong side of history. But standing with God and His word is not the wrong side of history. No matter how crazy or deluded our society becomes. In fact, Isaiah warns about calling evil good and good evil. Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! (Isaiah 5:20).
Folks, you shouldn’t worry about what society calls being on the right side of history. You need to be on the real and true right side of history and that is God’s side. Again, our calendar is based on the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord is coming back and He’s coming back with a vengeance upon those who do not surrender to Him nor believe in His Gospel.
Flaming Fire Taking Vengeance
And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power (2 Thessalonians 1:7-9).
Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoices, shall descend into it. And the mean man shall be brought down, and the mighty man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled: But the Lord of hosts shall be exalted in judgment, and God that is holy shall be sanctified in righteousness (Isaiah 5:14-16).
Hell hath enlarged it’s mouth without measure and Hell will swallow up all those who think they are on the right side of history. They will find out that they had made themselves enemies to God. They will be without excuse on Judgment Day. Their mouths will be stopped and they will realize when it’s too late, that they were actually on the wrong side of history. That they were foolishly on the wrong side of God. That they loved what God hates and they hate what he loves.
Don’t Worry About Political Correctness
Oh, don’t continue going through life worrying about whether you are politically correct or not. Don’t worry about what society calls the right side of history. Society is wrong for calling what God calls an abomination the right side. You won’t suffer the flames of Hell for all eternity for society’s wrongs. You will suffer eternal damnation for your own sins, if you die in your sins.
For all have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory. The wages of sin is death. Oh, but there is life, eternal life found in Jesus Christ and in Him alone. Tonight, recognize that you are a sinner. Confess your sins to God. Cry out for God to have mercy upon you. Repent from your sins and trust Jesus for your salvation. You see, God isn’t looking for you to give up this sin or that sin.
No, He’s looking for a total and complete surrender to Jesus. Do this tonight. Repent and surrender your life to Jesus and receive eternal life. Then, you will see that you are on the truly right side of history. The right side of eternal life. Repent and believe the Gospel. Do this tonight and be saved.
