Rain, Rain Go Away
Ministry Update August 4 ,2019
All week long the weather forecast bounced around from 40% to 60% for Friday night. At 5 pm, it dropped down to 5%. I was very excited since it was Art Walk and there should be a good crowd. But I joked with my wife a little after 5 pm that it could just as likely be 30% chance of rain in a couple of hours. Well I was way off. It was raining when I left home to head downtown and the forecast had jumped up to 80%. All I could think of was when I was a little kid and I couldn’t go outside to play because it was raining too hard and I used to sing, “Rain, rain go away come again another day.”
That old kid’s song came to my mind while I was driving, but obviously that didn’t’ keep the rain from falling. So when I got downtown, I brought a short message anyway. It ended up being short because my notes were soaked before I got through the first page and I couldn’t get the waterlogged pages apart. I had to go the best-off memory that I could and shared other Bible verses as they came to mind.
Even though it was raining pretty good, some people were still walking around downtown. I brought a message about blaspheming God’s Holy name and blaspheming the Holy Spirit. There wasn’t much interaction, but I did have one mocker. A young woman and a young man were walking to the Sky Eleven Apartments and she yelled for me to go away as she entered the building. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to hand out any New Testaments or Gospel tracts.
Preached Against Evildoers
On Wednesday my wife and I witnessed at Planned Parenthood. One driver honked in support of us as they drove by. But other than that, it was quiet. Several cars were already there when we arrived about 5 minutes or so after they opened the doors. Only one woman walked in while we were there, but she wouldn’t talk to us. A guy going into a nearby business acted like he wanted to yell at us, but he ended up not saying anything and continued on his way.
Even though there weren’t any interactions, I preached against the evildoers of Planned Parenthood; the workers and patrons alike and how we are not to fret over them. The great Judge of all the earth will righteously judge them one day for their sins, all of their sins, including the most wretched sin of killing little babies in the womb. They were warned to repent and to surrender their lives to Jesus, whether they listen or not.
