Quiet All Around
Ministry Update February 25, 2018
Some weeks street witnessing are really exciting. Others are more on the dull side. This week witnessing was quiet all around. Polly and I witnessed downtown in Springfield, MO in the rain on Friday night. Obviously, there weren’t a lot of people out milling around, but there were a few. A couple of people up the street appeared to be listening to part of the message, but overall it was rather quiet. It also was raining enough that we really didn’t get to hand out any tracts. But the Gospel went forth and I pray that God was honored by the precious name of Jesus Christ being lifted up in the open-air.
Cold Day At MSU
It was cold on Wednesday at Missouri State University, but thankfully it wasn’t Minnesota cold. The temperature was 27 and the wind chill made it feel like 17. Really didn’t have any mockers. Mainly a lot of apathy. A couple of students walked by right as I was beginning a message and the one student sounded like he was speaking German or some other language. About all I could get out of it was something about the cold weather. He was smiling as he said it, so I laughed and said it is cold.
I also tried something different. Since I usually start with a topic and work into the message, then the need for repentance and faith in Jesus, students walking by at the beginning don’t necessarily hear the Gospel. So this time I pleaded with the students right off the bat to repent and trust Jesus. Then I brought a message and ended with repent and believe the Gospel. But mainly it was a lunch hour of apathy. Oh how I pray that God will wake up our spiritually sleeping country. Especially this younger generation. May the Lord pour His Spirit out upon our nation one more time. May He send another great awakening before it’s too late.
(If you are a blood-bought child of God’s, then please, go share the glorious Gospel with someone. You don’t have to stand on a street corner and open-air preach. Hand a Gospel tract to someone. Ask them if they grew up with a religious background. Most people will tell you they have or haven’t. Then share how you were lost before you repented and surrendered your life to Jesus Christ. Oh, make much of Jesus Christ our Lord and your new life since you put your trust in our Lord and Savior.)
