Praise God For The Conversations!
Ministry Update June 5, 2022
We were blessed to have Trevor, Elly, their two girls, Keven, Joshua and I all out witnessing Friday night. I started out with a short message and had a drive by mocker or two. But before Trevor could bring his message, Elly was nearby having a discussion with a couple of guys. So he respectfully held off so he didn’t interfere with their conversation. While that was going on Joshua spoke to a young lady that’s a college student and said that she’s a believer. Also before Trevor could preach, a young man approached him and they had a long conversation. So we praise God for the conversations!
Justify Instead of Repenting
The two young men Elly talked to were both professing Christians. As she talked to them, one appeared to be a believer while the friend did not. The one guy was living in open sin against God and Elly shared Scripture with him so he could see his own rebellion. But instead of receiving it, he kept saying “but…”. Instead of repenting of his sin, he kept trying to justify it. The young man Trevor talked to got loud at one point (I was across the street) and I heard him accuse Trevor of being judgmental – maybe because Trevor’s youngest daughter held a sign that said judge with righteous judgment. Trevor shared Scripture with the young man and at one point the young man even took Trevor’s Bible and read John 3 – the whole chapter! That rarely happens while out witnessing.
Then Trevor brought his message about people asking why we are out there and he turned it on them as to the bigger question of why are here on earth at all? During this time, Joshua got into a conversation with a young Catholic man. He had a good discussion with him and Joshua tried to get him to think about what it really takes to get into Heaven. Afterwards, Joshua ran down a guy that was getting into his vehicle and the guy told Joshua that he was angry at God over a death in the family.
One Taker After Two Rejections
Trevor and Elly’s oldest daughter held a sign and handed out tracts. I was across the street holding a sign that says Repent and Believe the Gospel. Keven and I admittedly felt a little left out because we didn’t get into any conversations, even though we both tried. Some nights are just that way. But Keven did offer tracts to three women. The first two said no and he still offered a tract to the third one. She walked past him, turned around and said, “What is it?” He told her that it’s a Gospel tract and she said that she’d take one. I don’t think Keven realizes how rare that is to get two rejections and then a taker from the same group. Most people will say no if their friends say no. Keven and I had a great time visiting while handing out tracts. Again, we praise God for the conversations and we pray that God draws lost souls to Himself.
